  • Greetings watchers and welcome to Boreas Pass, Colorado at 11,481 feet high in altitude! This place is just magical….the wildflower fields go on forever…..and it is total serenity…no one around at all. Silence, among the high peaks. Gorgeous to say the least. You honestly feel like you are in heaven up here…on top of the world….where the air is so utterly fresh and the smell of the wildflowers is hypnotizing! You literally just stand in complete and total awe. Take it all in and breath….and the one thing I personally am proud of about this shot is how I was able to get that lighting! I am not sure of the peak here… Wikipedia has a nice page up about Boreas Pass Interesting lil facts on there like “The pass was formerly known as Breckenridge Pass in the 1860s” Was just informed on Naturephotographers.net from some of my fellow Colorado Photographers, that this is Quandary Peak Minolta 5D / Minolta 18-200 DT Lens / Singh-Ray CPL / Dynatran 858 Tripod Thoughts most welcomed / —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • “The Road To Home” Ya know, sometimes I just sit in amazement when I am shooting and just look, gaze, and take it all in…..if photography has honestly taught me anything, it’s to see better, noticing things you normally wouldn’t even see. Case in point, this shot here. Most people probably just drive on by this place never giving it a second glance, but to me, it was something very special…...so special that I spent about 30 minutes here shooting it. Living in Colorado really has it’s benefits this time of the year…as Autumn sets in and the sun goes south, the light becomes so utterly magical, thanks to our elevation. It becomes so warm and saturated in the morning, that everything seems so alive….so gold. Captured on a rural backroad between Boulder and Lyons, the old road leading to cattle pastures I felt made a very worthy subject, especially considering the colors involved, the light, and the overall composition with the tree. Let me know what ya all think! / —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • A few months ago I heard this song called A HORSE WITH NO NAME. I recalled it from my high school days. I just fell in love with the song again (lyrics below). And…last weekend while in the State of Virginia—I saw this horse that just sort of posed for me. It was my very own ‘horse with no name’; however, I think I’ll call it SUGAR. A HORSE WITH NO NAME (lyrics) On the first part of the journey / I was looking at all the life / There were plants and birds and rocks and things / There was sand and hills and rings / The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz / And the sky with no clouds / The heat was hot and the ground was dry / But the air was full of sound I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name / It felt good to be out of the rain / In the desert you can remember your name / ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain / La, la … After two days in the desert sun / My skin began to turn red / After three days in the desert fun / I was looking at a river bed / And the story it told of a river that flowed / Made me sad to think it was dead You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name / It felt good to be out of the rain / In the desert you can remember your name / ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain / La, la … After nine days I let the horse run free / ‘Cause the desert had turned to sea / There were plants and birds and rocks and things / there was sand and hills and rings / The ocean is a desert with it’s life underground / And a perfect disguise above / Under the cities lies a heart made of ground / But the humans will give no love You see I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name / It felt good to be out of the rain / In the desert you can remember your name / ‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain / La, la …

  • A field behind my house in Lawton, Oklahoma. A while after sunset. Longer than normal exposure while I purposely moved the camera down…I wanted it blurred. The only manipulation done was lowering the temperature down in photoshop making it more blue…I have a thing for blue right now…not sure why… Nikon D80 / March 2009

  • a glimpse into what we are going through here.. it makes finding these images out in nature worth it.. one set of neighbors(pink house) seem to think that yelling at us and calling us losers..is ok.. in front of my 7 yr old child… ie ..we have the neighbors from hell next door..and are still in the process of leaving this place..hopefully soon..and I would not wish this on anyone…the hell they have put us through.. I just try and show nature at it’s finest and my husband and child and I just am tired of their constant harrasment. I checked and they are not in photo life magazine as a emerging photographer..i am so frustrated…as are my husband and child… note / Many thanks to the Four Police Officers for coming out to see the video and have a chat with our neighbors (pink house)....it has been constant daily harassment from them and Perhaps this will put an end to it..and thank to Nikon for putting the video component into the camera:thumbsup: it has come in handy….have a great weekend.. / Nikon D90
