  • Nostalgic baseballs in the grass on a baseball field

  • While it’s possible to be disappointed by the hordes of thronging tourists, I don’t think it’s possible to overplay the spectacular natural beauty of Yosemite Valley. I have travelled in over 40 countries and found few places that rival it for jaw-dropping-ness. Again I was blessed with perfect light this morning, catching the early sunlight kissing the faces of the rock around Yosemite Falls, that vibrant spring green of the meadows, and the swollen water as it tumbled down the cliff-face. I spent less than 24 hours in the park, and I ache to head back there someday and spend some proper time there, because it really took my heart… May 2007.

  • Early mourning is so calming and peaceful. The fog that has shrouded the landscape is slowly lifting. Nature seems to be in slow motion and hush. Sit and enjoy what God has gave you. Let nature enfold completely, your whole being, completely covering you with its serenity……..Cades Cove GSMNP

  • Last week i went with a mate to Mt Field National Park for 3 days and we were planning to get on the top part of the mountain called The Tarn Shelf, but it visibility was so poor and rain so consistent that the chance of getting any photos would have been pretty poor, so we decided to just shoot the waterfalls and rivers/creeks, it was good to just walk around at a casual pace. / We’ve haven’t had this much rain in a few days for 20 odd years in Tas, so all the falls were flowing quite nicely. / It was great to get back in the wilderness, although when we walked into the cabin for the first time to find a woman that had tried to kill herself there was a little shock, but we and some other people in the other huts all helped out in any way they could, we got an ambo(2 showed up) there and she ended up being ok which was a relief. So that was a bit of a drama but the rest of the shoot was great, and so good to get all this rain, it’s amazing how green everything is now.

  • These falls are really big, they dwarf the other falls in Mt Field by such a long way, I did take a picture of my mate about 15 meters away from them and could hardly see him in the shot he looked so small. Talking was close to impossible because of how loud they were, and so much spray was coming from the falls it was really hard to get a shot without water getting on the lens, it took a little off track walking, so these aren’t able to be seen by the public, which is strange because they are by far and away the most impressive. It took a 10mm lens to get them all in and some distance back.

  • I took a shot from this spot 2 years ago after I had being doing photography for about a year, and the shot that i got(which is on my PF) i was never happy with because i couldn’t get everything in the shot that i wanted with the lens I had back then, so the first time I’ve been back since then I had my trusty 10-20mm with me to get the shot i wanted, i was lucky enough to have a load of rain the days leading up to this and the sun was going down and just caught it as it was fading over the falls allowing some nice light in. I wasn’t sure if i liked the portrait style shot more but went with this, might show the other one a bit later.

  • laying still, talking fills / up my mind it won’t come out it’s better in there / can’t hurt you in there, friendship in check / with reasonable doubt it will work itself out / guess what I know, you’ll never know / I’m dying to tell you but my levels too low / you’re too good for me, so perfect indeed / so blind from the feelings that stay here with me somewhere in the doubt / emotion gets knocked about / secrets locked away / I feel you in the rain fast and then slow, how should I grow / still begging for guidance, which way should I go / feels like the snow, the winter it grows / so scared of the answers that you couldn’t know / feeling like led, sinking with dread / could I be someone, don’t think with your head / so hold it in, don’t want to give in / just need to know, tell me how to begin somewhere in the doubt / emotion gets knocked about / secrets locked away / I feel you in the rain / I feel you in the rain / I feel you in the rain -me

  • Russell Falls in Mt Field National Park have been shot to death (with good reason as they’re an absolutely gorgeous drop) so I thought I’d post a different perspective on this wonderful spot. Camera: Canon EOS 5D mkII / Lens: EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM @ 65mm / Filter: UV / ISO: 100 / Shutter Speed: 4sec / Aperture: f/16 / WB: Auto / Exposure Compensation: -1/3rd stop / When: 5:10pm on 4/4/09 For more Tassie shots check out my Tasmania gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

  • A slightly confused trolley across the bay from the San Francisco city. This thing was missing a wheel and rusty as hell. • stand there in the shadow of a whispers dream / hoping to feel a brush of your wishes floating down / there’s something in this air that chills the way you feel / now I’m running into you but the colours aren’t feeling true / so I’m stuck inside old dreams we can’t breathe a word / that would make this fall apart / there’s nothing in your mind / that trickles into your heat / and the silence still remains / like when the rain has struck the ground / the miracle you tried to find / was hoping to stay lost I swept the world for signs to prove they were not there / they followed you till dawn then fell straight off the earth / so keep me safe today, windows and worlds locked away / I’m trying not to hide as the years moved into the night / where your stuck inside old dreams we can’t breathe a word / that would make you fall apart / there’s nothing in your mind / that trickles into your heat / and the silence still remains / like when the rain has struck the ground / the miracle you tried to find / was hoping to stay lost you were not there you were not there you were not there -me
