  • Arcylic painting with mixed media. This idea was taken from my young childhood days sketchbook . / Sometimes i used to go in a big field, away from it all.. / with my skecthbook and paints, looking up at the sun, to me the sun’s rays used to look like all these sparkling, and dazzling rays, coming towards me. With the fields and corn everywhere, i used to see patterns and images , as the breeze blew them into this and that shape, or is it, and always be, the fact i just have a creative head with illusions in me, .............. don’t know, will anyone ever understand how i see things….......

  • I saw this rusted frame of a bike on the borders of this wheat field, when I saw it it reminded me of the times I spent as a kid wheeling around my own bike with a hockey card in the spokes and the flag raised high on the back and I even had a streamer or two flapping in the wind off my handlebars. To me this old rusted frame symbolizes the wonderful experiences of a fantastic childhood full of laughter, smiles and fond memories, but time is our enemy and for many of us it fades our once cherished memories to distant glimmers that flicker by on rare occasions, and like this old rusted frame are soon forgotten and will eventually fade completely. / / This replaces a previous version of the image Lost & Found. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /

  • “A Boab Sunrise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sony a100 camera / Photoshop CS4 artwork The Australian Aboriginal legend of the Boab Tree (or Bottle Tree): “When the tree God created the Boab Tree it was to be the most beautiful of all trees in the universe, with the most beautiful flowers and bearing the juiciest fruit. But as the tree grew to maturity its flowers were mediocre and its fruit had a bad odour and tasted vile. The Tree God became so angry that he yanked the Boab out of the ground and slammed it back in the earth upside down and that is why today, when you see a Boab tree, it looks as if its roots are growing up in the air.” Thangool, Queensland A Boab Sunrise was featured in the: Trees group – Sept 09 Image Writing group – Sept 09 Queensland group – Sept 09 Inspired Art group – Oct 09

  • Many, many years ago I was at the Bottom Line in the Village to listen to Don McLean and was mesmerized by the simplicity of his performance. Lori Lieberman (1971) wrote Killing Me Softly with His Blues in response to seeing Don McLean. It was later covered by Roberta Flack (1973) and still later by the Fugees (1996). Killing Me Softly is a song that came to mind as I made this image which has nothing to do with Don McClean, but does have to do with being moved by music. I worry about the fate of music in schools as I hear from friends that so many school systems seem to be cutting the arts from their offerings for students. In my world, there is nothing as essential or important as preserving the arts both in and out of school. Best viewed large.
