A few months ago I heard this song called A HORSE WITH NO NAME. I recalled it from my high school days. I just fell in love with the song again (lyrics below). And…last weekend while in the State of Virginia—I saw this horse that just sort of posed for me. It was my very own ‘horse with no name’; however, I think I’ll call it SUGAR. Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.

I should use the file title here…TO7…by this point, I was running out of clever things to name these shots and just started attaching numbers. It really was a lucky day to shoot on Friday. Everything, the light, atmosphere and horses came together perfectly to help me get some good shots. I went back this morning and the shoot fell flat. That happens sometimes. I hope I have better luck tomorrow morning…and fog..lol /

OK…I admit it….I am completely obsessed with this old chair….. I just wanted to let you know that I will be posting more pictures of it…at least until my obsession is satisfied….or the chair falls apart. I figure, if I am going to lug it all over the country side I have to at least post pictures of it to make it worthwhile….....I just hope you’ll come along for the ride. BEST viewed large to see the details ! / I discovered this scene in beautiful Montana, USA, an old cart left in a field, with a couple of fine horses hanging around. I knew it would be a shot I would ‘do something later’ with in Photoshop, since on its own, photographed in the middle of the day in too strong sunshine, it wasn’t very exciting light ! The scene made me think of those pioneers that travelled across America, in the hope of better things. I shot on my CANON EOS 40D, with polariser attached to my Tamron 28-300 lens, set at 150mm, iso 200, auto wb, f6.7, 1/350sec, (wanted to blur an uninteresting background) underexposed by half a stop, RAW file processed as a pseudo HDR in Photomatix, then edited in Adobe CS3, levels/curves adjustments, LAB colour for saturation, added a dark vignette, then a little Orton, still wasn’t happy (!!) so I further added a couple of texture layers, which I adjusted with layer masks/opacities/blends etc. / I had a great deal of fun processing it !! The texture is my own, one I took in Namibia, in Kolmanskop mining ghost town ! FEATURED IN / http://www.redbubble.com/groups/rebel-group /
