We’re all familiar with the term and the fabric, 100% cotton, but I wonder how many people have actually seen cotton growing in the field. Here’s a plump cotton boll ripe for harvesting in south/central Louisiana.

This image is part of Erin’s challange here / This is one of my favorite images because it brings back fond memories of my childhood. / When I grew up, I lived in a nice neighborhood, mostly composed of middle to upper middle class families. Just before my teen years, my family bought a farm. From that day forward, we were out on the farm hoeing blue grass, driving either our large tractor (case) or the smaller Ford, driving combine and driving truck. I could barely reach the pedals on most of the equipment (I had to sit way forward in the seat to drive the trucks). / This old Ford tractor was one I spent hundreds of hours on. Discing, plowing, mowing and cultivating among other things. I used to come back from the fields looking like one big dust ball. / That is why this image is so important to me. It helps relive some of my best (and worst) childhood memories.

I own this bone sculpture. I do not know who made it, but it cost me dearly to obtain it. I just want to share it with you all.
Moody autumn skies over southern Alberta wheatfield. / Thanks so much for stopping by—my other work can be seen by theme here….......
It’s that time of year again, Harvest is coming. Let’s hope the sun shines nice and the crop is productive this year!!

What a view to have from the back of your workplace :) Haybales beneath Bredon Hill on the border of Worcestershire & Gloucestershire , England. Shot about 7pm after locking up for the night. / I had preyed these bales would stay out in the fields long enough to get some nice light for me to photograph them. It had been pretty overcast all afternoon so I was overjoyed to lock up and find the fields lit up with golden sun….especially with that moody sky behind :) (it was so windy during the day that the haybale has actually been blown over!) Canon 400D without tripod! Lee filter and Sigma 10-20mm
From my series World from Above. I am always fascinated by patterns like this created by farmers when laying out their fields. This one is dedicated to my mother, who loves this view! Taken from a commercial plane shortly before landing at Munich airport. This is pretty typical of villages and countryside of this part of Lower Bavaria. Nikon D200, Sigma 18-200mm. Post-pro in CS2. They say a farmer can work far into the night by the light of a harvest moon…..it is also a reminder of advancing years…..a time to reap what we have sown….. Neil Young’s beautiful song by the same name brings back such memories….. / See the video Harvest Moon by Neil Young “Harvest Moon” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © / Sony a100 camera / Photoshop CS4 artwork “Harvest Moon” was featured in: Inspired Art group – Nov 09
