Lincolnshire Field at daybreak
Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.
the easy silence you make for me
I’m very fond of trees and I especially like this one. It stands alone in a field at the end of our driveway next to a small brook. It seems like every season, and every sunrise and sunset have a way of setting it off “just so”. This morning was exceptional with the fog creating a mysterious veil that made this photograph extra special to me. /

This was one of my rewards, that morning for rising early and driving in thick fog to a little town just West of Geelong, called Shelford.
This image was shot at dawn. I waited on the lake in the dark in my kayak until the sun started to peer over the horizon and the mist I had been kayaking through became evident. The silence was golden. This is the picture I have in my head of that moment, a place I want to return to over and over again.
I should use the file title here…TO7…by this point, I was running out of clever things to name these shots and just started attaching numbers. It really was a lucky day to shoot on Friday. Everything, the light, atmosphere and horses came together perfectly to help me get some good shots. I went back this morning and the shoot fell flat. That happens sometimes. I hope I have better luck tomorrow morning…and fog..lol /

“A Boab Sunrise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sony a100 camera / Photoshop CS4 artwork The Australian Aboriginal legend of the Boab Tree (or Bottle Tree): “When the tree God created the Boab Tree it was to be the most beautiful of all trees in the universe, with the most beautiful flowers and bearing the juiciest fruit. But as the tree grew to maturity its flowers were mediocre and its fruit had a bad odour and tasted vile. The Tree God became so angry that he yanked the Boab out of the ground and slammed it back in the earth upside down and that is why today, when you see a Boab tree, it looks as if its roots are growing up in the air.” Thangool, Queensland A Boab Sunrise was featured in the: Trees group – Sept 09 Image Writing group – Sept 09 Queensland group – Sept 09 Inspired Art group – Oct 09

Many, many years ago I was at the Bottom Line in the Village to listen to Don McLean and was mesmerized by the simplicity of his performance. Lori Lieberman (1971) wrote Killing Me Softly with His Blues in response to seeing Don McLean. It was later covered by Roberta Flack (1973) and still later by the Fugees (1996). Killing Me Softly is a song that came to mind as I made this image which has nothing to do with Don McClean, but does have to do with being moved by music. I worry about the fate of music in schools as I hear from friends that so many school systems seem to be cutting the arts from their offerings for students. In my world, there is nothing as essential or important as preserving the arts both in and out of school. Best viewed large.
