Visited an alpaca farm on Pender Island, British Columbia. / The herd had just been sheared and were a little skittish – but we were allowed in the pen with them so we could photograph them. Thankfully they weren’t too impressed with us. Blondie’s Sister Willow / FEATURED in Rural Around The Globe June 2009 Canon 50D / Canon 70-200mm f/4.0L /
Inspired by the wild and crazy zinnias that grew in my garden one summer. 100% cotton, machine pieced, machine embroidered, quilted.
Looking to the future, reflecting on the past. Words embroidered on the squares are my “foundations”, words embroidered on the shibori are my future desires, The use of shisha mirrors and holes in this word represent things that I don’t know that I know or don’t know. Silk shirt pieces from my past and thread mats are my hair.

Memories of my garden in fall, three dimensional parts, hidden words and images, machine and hand appliques, machine quilted. This is actually a story about my hubby in his garden, battling the gremlins each season. The sunflowers are three dimensional as are the eyes of the raccoon, hubby’s socks and his hair.
