Today evening ,is the evening of Hanukkah (Chanukkah ) we light the first candle ,while tomorrow is first Hanukkah day.Hanukkah is the annual Jewish festival celebrated on eight successive days beginning on the 25th day of Kislev, the third month of the Jewish calendar, corresponding, approximately, to December in the Gregorian calendar. It is also known as the Festival of Lights, Feast of Dedication, and Feast of the Maccabees, Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Temple of Jerusalem by Judas Maccabee in 165 BC after the Temple had been profaned by Antiochus IV Epiphanes. shot this in an avenue of trees seriously lit up for the festive season. if you look carefully, you will notice that i have these lights at 4 different levels – the first being in front of the in-focus one, then the subject, behind that the bright little balls of light and finally a whole tree in the blurry background! one of my favorite shots from this winter season. hope you like! Seeing the battlements of Edinburgh castle transformed into a cascading waterfall of light is the grand finale of the festival fireworks concert give a take a few thousand rockets or so… Tips and suggestions most welcome in time for next year… Thanks so much for looking..and for your patience with this series… and i even managed to eke out a new calendar... The weather for this years Winter Magic Festival was a bit of everything. But even though there was rain and fog and it was cold… it didn’t stop the crowds from enjoying themselves! Late in the afternoon the mist started to roll in and it was getting dark.. a few storeholders were starting to pack up but the street was still full of people. I took a photo at the time because I really liked the atmosphere and then when I had my week away recently, I let myself start to play with it! This is the result so far… I think I would like to try a few other ideas too… : )) Mixed Media on canvas paper. / 40.5×60
