Coming months are seasoned for festivals in India. I’ll be presenting a series of it in coming time. Hope everyone here will enjoy it. Ganesha (Sanskrit: गणेश ); also spelled Ganesa or Ganesh and known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, Pillaiyar. Ganesha is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha’s elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles (Vighnesha, Vighneshvara), patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is a Lord of all 64 forms of art. He is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as Patron of Letters during writing sessions. Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography. A sect of devotees called the Ganapatya, (Sanskrit: गाणपत्य ), have identified Ganesha as the supreme deity. We clebrate Gansesh Utsav ( Festival ) here in India. Ganesh Festival is a day on which Lord Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati, is believed to bestow his presence on earth for all his devotees. The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi ( fourth day of the waxing moon period ). Typically the day falls sometime between August 20 and September 15. The festival lasts for 10 days, ending on Ananta Chaturdashi.
