Hi everyone. / After spending 3 days Christmas shopping I have finally found an opinion on the holiday. In the shopping centers all you see are crying children, stressed out parents and finally the teenage brats trying to send their parents broke with expensive gifts. It seems that society is only concerned about the gifts they receive and give on this day. What is Christmas really about though? I mean I thought it was about spending time with the people you love, a chance to catch up and discover that your great aunt’s brother is actually your best friend’s grandfather. If you ask any 6 year old child what they think Christmas is about then you are sure to get one word. PRESENTS! The media has completely changed the way Christmas is portrayed. It used to be ads on the radio saying come to our Christmas mass at the local church and see the nativity scene. Now it is just jewelery ads talking about giving the perfect $3000 diamond ring to your loved ones. What happened to the innocence of believing Santa Clause? I had a prep buddy a few years ago. A young girl called Sam (now 9 years old) stopped believing in Santa Clause 2 years ago when a mother who had come to pick up her child told her that it was just a lie to make parents buy more presents. Since when is it wrong to believe? I would love to believe that somewhere there is a workshop full of little elves drinking hot chocolates and creating tiny toys filled with love for all the good girls and boys. Please what ever you do, make sure you and your children believe in the true Christmas and Santa Clause. The true meaning of Christmas is the birth of family and of love.

A outing at night during December can be a family treat to take in the Christmas tradition of fairy lights. It started years ago with just painted light globes placed around the house and garden. Today it has blown out to incredibly beautiful lights twinkling,flickering,exploding,shimmering and many house holders light up their house and gardens in a Christmas manner, Santa and his sleigh,toys,etc.,all made up of coloured lights. This one was of the true spirit of Christmas depicting the Stable all forlorn and the Holy birth. We found it on the main road between Lobethal and Mt. Torrens. It was a huge display and this is only one section of it. Adelaide Hills.
