  • Such a tourist photo!! I like it and besides I and scores of other intrepid touristas risked life and limb to take this shot. So many little light bulbs in Paris… It’s no wonder they’re nuclear powered….

  • shot this in an avenue of trees seriously lit up for the festive season. if you look carefully, you will notice that i have these lights at 4 different levels – the first being in front of the in-focus one, then the subject, behind that the bright little balls of light and finally a whole tree in the blurry background! one of my favorite shots from this winter season. hope you like! • Edinburgh is and traditionally always has been a very exciting place to be at Christmas and New Year. If you would like to buy a card, print or poster just go to buy/preview

  • Two Ferris Wheels turning on a mid summer’s night; from a series: Sunset on the Small Town Carnival. Owing to the rise of mega-parks and high liability insurance, small town carnivals are rapidly disappearing. Whenever possible i try to document this vanishing aspect of the Twentieth Century American landscape. The original image was shot at 1/15th with a camera flash and 2 remote strobes. The long exposure shows motion and the flash freezes detail. I used opposing color filters on the remotes to get better depth in the subject. In post processing I used a combination of effects from both Illustrator and PhotoShop. The big trick was getting the file size down by rasterizing my AIs in PS and reopening them in AI and re-saving as a vector.

  • Girls spinning on a whirling carnival ride during a mid summer’s night; from a series: Sunset on the Small Town Carnival. Owing to the rise of mega-parks and high liability insurance, small town carnivals are rapidly disappearing. Whenever possible I try to document these vanishing icons of the Twentieth Century American landscape. The original image was shot at 1/15th with a camera flash and 2 remote strobes. • Apocolopilis Parade 2008 in Galway

  • I did this piece for the “Mid-Autumn Festival” (also known as the “moon festival”). The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese calendar (usually around mid- or late-September in the Gregorian calendar), that is September 14, this year. Chinese celebrates this festival by gathering family members together for a big meal, we have very beautiful lanterns (children love them), we have moon cakes and a lot of fruit while we gaze at the nice and round moon with our loved ones.

  • New Plymouth’s Festival of Lights. Taken on a bridge across the lake at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth. 13sec exposure with Sony a350 & Sony 16-105lens

  • For the film festival in Cannes, so many movies are showing that tents are put on the beach as small cinemas.

  • Worshippers on a Buddhist holiday night circle Thailand’s most revered temple. This photograph was taken on a tripod using a shutter cable, with an exposure of a few seconds. Nikon FM2, nikkor 28mm lense, using Kodachrome slide film.

  • This was taken at a local festival in Japan known as the juuninichi festival, always held on 12th December. It’s very colorful and exotic and is held in the evening so the lights of the food stalls and the amazing characters walking around just overwhelm the senses. This guy was making animals out of hard candy which he first softened and shaped into these incredibly detailed figures. The kids around him were just fascinated as you can see.
