Sometimes the real picture in the photograph is less obvious than first sight. I shut down the aperture and shutter speed to capture the colour and patterns that came from this ferris wheel.

Two Ferris Wheels turning on a mid summer’s night; from a series: Sunset on the Small Town Carnival. Owing to the rise of mega-parks and high liability insurance, small town carnivals are rapidly disappearing. Whenever possible i try to document this vanishing aspect of the Twentieth Century American landscape. The original image was shot at 1/15th with a camera flash and 2 remote strobes. The long exposure shows motion and the flash freezes detail. I used opposing color filters on the remotes to get better depth in the subject. In post processing I used a combination of effects from both Illustrator and PhotoShop. The big trick was getting the file size down by rasterizing my AIs in PS and reopening them in AI and re-saving as a vector.

Niagara Falls, November 2006 Taken from the hotel, this view focuses on the ferris wheel located right on the main street leading down to the falls. To the left, you can see a building which appears to be on it’s side – this is the Ripley’s Believe it Or Not Museum.
Our photography class went on a field trip to Sydney Harbour last week. We arrived at 9pm and left at 1 am, but what a lot of fun we had. Our wonderful teachers went with us and explained about lighting, white balance and night photography. This is my first night lights shot. For an amateur I was fairly happy with the results. What do you think? Taken with my Canon 40 DSLR on a tripod. white balance- auto, shutter speed- 2/5 sec, iso- 200, Fstop-7.1 / I have done some post editing in photoshop but not too much, Lunar park is a favourite of mine as I used to go there back in my younger days. Thanks for visiting
This view of the Thames, London Eye and Westminster was my consolation for walking out on ‘Twilight’, the only premiere I have thus far not had the stomach to go all the way through for. The premiere of ‘Twilight’ was so manic, so packed and so noisy before anybody had even turned up, even that I simply couldn’t handle it any more despite my ipod being turned up to maximum volume. / To put it into perspective : the premieres for: The Jonas Bros (Eeeee!) for their 3D Concert Experience Zac Efron (Eeeee!) for 17 Again Johnny Depp (Eeeee!) for Public Enemies / ... were all manageable, or at least tolerable. Twilight fans, though? MAD. AS. HATTERS! (And noisy as banshees!)
Last week I went to the CNE with my tripod to take my shots. This was the last shot I got in just before I went down and broke my foot in a pothole on the midway. At least I got the shot before I went down and the camera come out unhurt! Nikon D200, Tamron 17-50mm.

Navratri festival ends today and tomorrow(the 10th day)-another popular festival Dusshera will be celebrated all across India. Yesterday me and my friends had a great time enjoying the on going Dusshera festival here in my home town. The official celebrations for this festival starts from day one of Navratri festival. Dusshera festival is celebrated in “dusshera ground” of my town(it’s just 10 minutes walk from my home) and streets are filled with people(of all age groups) going to Dusshera ground along with their friends & families. In the Dusshera ground there is preparations going on for tomorrow’s main Dusshera festival, there are several fun rides & Ferris wheels, small shops selling various goods, food stalls etc. I was not home for all navratri festival days, so i came back home yesterday and i straight way rush to “Dusshera ground” with my friends and we had great time. About Dusshera festival Dusshera is a popular festival celebrated by Hindus all over India, albeit with different names. It is also known as Vijayadashmi (‘Vijay’ meaning ‘victory’ and ‘Dashmi meaning ‘tenth day), as it is believed that it was on this day that Lord Rama killed the demon-king, Ravana and rescued his abducted wife – Sita. In other words, it signifies the triumph of good over evil. The legendary triumph is reenacted to the day. In the northern parts of India, huge effigies of Ravana, his giant brother Kumbhkarna and son Meghnath are placed in vast open grounds. Fireworks and crackers are placed inside the effigies. Actors dressed as Rama, his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana enact the final moments of the battle, at the Ramlila ground. After the enactment of the climax of the war with Ravana, the character playing Rama shoots an arrow with a flaming tip at the effigies from a safe distance and the crowd bursts up in cheer, as the crackers catch fire. The enthusiasm and the cheers sometimes even drown the deafening blast. Merriment ensues, as people indulge themselves games, dance and music that are held at the fair. Main festival of Dusshera is tomorrow, i hope to get some neat shots.
