    by Rosalie Dale IPA

Unfurling gently in the soft, late sun, they shyly extend their fingers…

I wrote this last night as a companion to my Fitzroy Fronds image … and as a comment on Life. / I do intend to put both together in one image when the creative juices inspire!! / /

  • Perfect Place
    by Bev Woodman

This place … this perfect place …

The love of the bush was handed down to me by my pioneering background and especially my Papa and my father – I followed them while growing up through bush tracks and up creeks, over rocks and down gullies. We swatted flies, side stepped snakes, pulled off juicy leaches and admired nature at its best. This poem is for them – who taught me all I know. This poem remains the property of Beverley Woodman and may not be copies or reproduced in any way without the written authority of the author.

  • Resurrection Fern
    by TwoHeadedBoy

Matt could no longer remember a time when the salty air didn’t burn his eyes. As he stepped out onto the deck, a lucid teardrop trickled …

This story takes place during the colonization of the land we now know as Australia, specifically in Van Diemans Land. Van Diemans Land was the original name for for Tasmania, an island off the southeastern tip of Australia. One of the most famous colonies at this time was Hobart Town, later renamed to Hobart. During the 1800’s a serious of bloody conflicts occurred between the Tasmanian Aborigines (Natives) and the Europeans, these conflicts later gained a morbid reputation, and is widely considered one of the first genocides at the hand of the Aboriginals. It is called the Black War. It was my first story written around October of Freshman year. The bulk of it was written listening to “Resurrection Fern”, and I recomend reading it to that.
