  • When the conditions are right where I live we experience the wonderful phenomena of sea fog. The first one I experienced was when I was “in between” cameras. I was devastated! I have been hoping ever since that we would get another one… I peered out the window today while I was on the phone and saw that today was the day! I had to make my apologies to my friend on the phone – a girl has to get her priorities right – and happily spent the next two hours snapping, with my young boys as my photography assistants. The title of this piece is inspired by one of my favourite scenes in Lord of the Rings. Gandalf the mighty wizard gives his life to ensure the freedom of his friends… and so my friend today gave to me the same gift of freedom as I hastily hung up the phone to explore my sea fog. 5000+ views

  • A photograph of a bubble on some twigs….much like the other one but this one had a lot more reflections and colors. You can see my camera and my hand in the middle as well. / It is very yellow, I don’t know how that happened, maybe the gloomy grey skies. Most of them are clear with blue and pink streaks. This one reminded me of colored mercury glass. / (I added shadow to bring out the colors more.)

The snow last weekend was almost continual but light … creating an amazing, fantasy land of subtle color and soft light. As I shot this particular image, the sun was just appearing across the lake on the trees in the distance. It played hide and seek the whole time I was out. Fortunately, the winds were calm … so the branches were filled with snow. Image taken Tuesday, January 20, 2009 with the Nikon D40x, using the 18-200mm VR lens, with cp filter in Claysburg, PA … Blue Knob Mountain. Companion Piece Here Comes The Sun /

  • Birch fences are part of my youth where I was living,at that time my mother was in chock seeing sheeps or cows in our vegetables garden and we could see hay bundles sleeping on the field.Of course I knew that if I followed the birch fence I would find the first blueberries for the love of my life,my father…a ritual I did for most of my youth. At first I only had a few bleuberries but what a treat I had looking to my father eating the first handful of those tasty wild berries.I was so proud and happy…. :)) / Autumn time in Saint-Hippolyte,Quebec,Canada / Taken with a D200 Nikon /

  • “A Boab Sunrise” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © Sony a100 camera / Photoshop CS4 artwork The Australian Aboriginal legend of the Boab Tree (or Bottle Tree): “When the tree God created the Boab Tree it was to be the most beautiful of all trees in the universe, with the most beautiful flowers and bearing the juiciest fruit. But as the tree grew to maturity its flowers were mediocre and its fruit had a bad odour and tasted vile. The Tree God became so angry that he yanked the Boab out of the ground and slammed it back in the earth upside down and that is why today, when you see a Boab tree, it looks as if its roots are growing up in the air.” Thangool, Queensland A Boab Sunrise was featured in the: Trees group – Sept 09 Image Writing group – Sept 09 Queensland group – Sept 09 Inspired Art group – Oct 09
