I originally intended this shot to be a picture of my son holding onto these balloons and taking off, floating into up into the sky … a fantasy, sotybook sort of image. However, my daughter immediately grabbed these balloons from him and started running off. So, as it turned out this eded up having a more realistic look than the one I originally intended, but I thought it turned out pretty cute with the desaturated colors throughout, except for the colorful balloons. Sold 2 laminated prints to RB Members.

London, UK / l was near the Tower Bridge, I wanted to take some picture of the towers but everywhere photographers with their tripods were getting there before me.. / so I decided to observe things I had never noticed before.. /

London, UK I usually walk along the south bank riverside in London.. and l passed by this place maybe a thousand times ! One of the first street shots I ever took back in 1964 in the East End of London. This was before Playstations, and probably the only ‘toy’ these kids shared between them was a skipping rope. Old bomb sites still held a fascination though as a form of amusement and exploration, as can be seen here. It was taken using a Yashica Mat 120 film twin lens reflex camera that took me six months to save up for. I used Tri-X B/W film and printed on a hard grade of paper to get the punchy contrast, a characteristic of all my early B/W work. / / Southern Ontario, Canada A flock of birds, it swooped and danced, Held my gaze while I stood entranced. They moved as one through the atmosphere A minuet as they drew near. Thousands of birds in a flight of grace; Each tiny bird kept its own place. The percussion beat of their drumming wings Keeping time while the multitude sings, And I can hear them on their stage in the air A traveling show to who knows where. Perhaps a summer home, a perch, A quiet place in a Silver Birch. An end to the long dance, a place to rest Where wing and song can pause in a feathered nest.

“Listen a hundred times; ponder a thousand times; speak once.” / - TURKISH PROVERB My son Kane had no idea I was photographing him at this time…He was just wondering sweetly along a path in a local parkland area when suddenly he stopped and leaned on the fence. I honestly could not believe what I was seeing through my viewfinder when he did it. Then when I saw the photograph it just blew me away. Kane is 3 years old in this photograph. This is my all time favourite photograph I’ve taken with my DSLR to date. Played with the colour version in photoshop and am very pleased with the outcome. This is the Isle of Skye at it’s best, when there is a lot of colour in the landcsape, with the low sun we get this far North at this time of year, accentuating every detail. / This is the crofting community of Tarskavaig, with the glorious backdrop of the Cuillin Hills. / “Crofting” is small time farming, or “smallholding” where a few crops might be grown, and a small number of cattle or sheep kept. A single RAW file, shot on my Canon EOS 50D , polariser filter, f25, 1/2 sec, underexposed by 2/3 stop, iso 100, auto wb, processed in Adobe CR, then in CS3. MORE OF MY ISLE OF SKYE WORK…...
