Patterns found in nature, like the growth circles in wood always fascinate me. The pattern and the wear from age on this old post caught my eye.
Under the boundless soothing sky your eyes reach the edge of the world and still … everything you are left to dream about is in your past.

It’s not that far away, the nights grow cooler and the smell of falling leaves is in the air. This cuddly Tanager is just hanging out with the Harrier here in my composite from the Bear River National Wildlife Refuge about 6 miles down the road from me ;-)

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. Mary Ann Evans (1819 – 1880)
I gathered up a few leaves before they had a chance to turn brown and be raked away. I brought them inside and put them in a pile on the table. I am amazed that after more than a week they kept their color! So here is the photo of the colors of fall. / /
She shivered when the wind blew. / “Why did I have to come this way, now I’m stuck! I’m cold, lonely, and a bit afraid.” / The only thing that made her happy was the way he softly stroked her smooth delicate skin. / She lay waiting for his rise, counting time as if it were the stars. / Suddenly, there he was off in the distance. / He was glowing ever so slightly first, then as he rose higher and higher in the sky she felt him warm and tender. / Finally this day was looking promising. / Now the solitary flower, wasn’t so sad. / She met the morning sun with all his glory and power. I used my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT with EOS Lens 18 -55. / BEST VIEWED LARGE. TAKEN AS IS. Took this shot just tonight, August 5, 2009. There is this kind of fence post etc. all over Idaho. They are rusty and falling apart for the most part, but a kind of charm to the landscape. This is not far from my house near the old Oregon Trail. Went out to watch the sun set and the storm come in, was hoping to try for a lightning shot, but had no luck this time.
