I originally intended this shot to be a picture of my son holding onto these balloons and taking off, floating into up into the sky … a fantasy, sotybook sort of image. However, my daughter immediately grabbed these balloons from him and started running off. So, as it turned out this eded up having a more realistic look than the one I originally intended, but I thought it turned out pretty cute with the desaturated colors throughout, except for the colorful balloons.

I took this shot from the Windsor turf farms today while following a storm which hit about 5 minutes later.. It is an HDR shot and I think HDR was the right choice as it shows details in both the sky and landscape.. / I have always wanted to try and get a storm shot while down at the turf farms because the scene just looks so typically australian to me.. / I decided to include the gate to break up the scene a bit and add something more to view than just turf and the sky.. / Anyway as usual all comments and/or thoughts are welcome.. / Thanks for having a look! This is my first attempt at a Panorama. / It is a combination of 2 images. I couldn’t decide which one to upload when I suddenly got the idea to join them together…..this is what I came up with. / / It is an infared shot. / / The title is from Frank Zappa. I have used it before…but it seemed quite fitting for this image.

Rickety Gate. A little bit of owner-builder architecture I discovered on a photography exploration in suburban Newcastle. There were so many odds and ends that went into building and repairing this house that it really looked fascinating.

Well, I’m back from the farm….almost froze it was so bloody cold (OK, not as cold as in some parts of the world, Simon, but I was bloody cold!! lol) Of course the first image I post has to be IR, so here it is. Filter almost froze to the lens, but I had to get this in infrared. Camera: Canon EOS 450D / Filter: R72 / ISO 400 / f/4.5 / Focal Length: 18mm / Exposure: 25sec / Tripod and frozen fingers and toes. And no, it wasn’t snowing, the grass was green, it just goes white with the ir filter.
