  • I originally intended this shot to be a picture of my son holding onto these balloons and taking off, floating into up into the sky … a fantasy, sotybook sort of image. However, my daughter immediately grabbed these balloons from him and started running off. So, as it turned out this eded up having a more realistic look than the one I originally intended, but I thought it turned out pretty cute with the desaturated colors throughout, except for the colorful balloons. Sold 2 laminated prints to RB Members.

  • “Forgotten Fields” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © An old moss covered timber gate at the corner of a field of grass. “Whenever my journey gets hard to bear / To fields I go to meet You there. / The Holy psalms I shall recount / My horse of courage I shall mount. / My journey through this land gets longer / My hunger for Your home gets stronger. / When hills to climb get only steeper / My love for You gets only deeper. / I shall not stray nor lose my course / With rein in hand, I’ll guide my horse / To fields of good and plenty be / These fields, the ones You promised me / Are void of enemies and grief. / These fields supply me with relief. / I mount my horse, I’m on my way / And in Your fields, My Lord, I’ll stay.” / ~Marie Paradise

  • I took this shot from the Windsor turf farms today while following a storm which hit about 5 minutes later.. It is an HDR shot and I think HDR was the right choice as it shows details in both the sky and landscape.. / I have always wanted to try and get a storm shot while down at the turf farms because the scene just looks so typically australian to me.. / I decided to include the gate to break up the scene a bit and add something more to view than just turf and the sky.. / Anyway as usual all comments and/or thoughts are welcome.. / Thanks for having a look! • This was taken off the side of a highway in the middle part of Minnesota….flat, gray and very cold. We were on our way back home from our Thanksgiving trip and I begged my sister to stop when I saw this fence. :) The icy frost was amazing to drive in…miles and miles of it.

  • An infrared capture taken with a HOYA R72 filter. Topaz Adjust was used to give a slight HDR effect on the grass and fence.

  • A side gate, which is practically hidden, in the grounds of St Martins Church, near Looe, Cornwall. / Taken in the evening when the sun was setting, back in late September ‘08. Hope you like it. / Thank you for looking. Best Viewed Large.

For me its a one off and a bit different to the usual..so any feedback is especially welcome / cheers / ding / ;))

  • / Between the greater-soul & fleshed reality are particles, the final tangible reaches of our thought, seeming like something singing out beyond the rugged tabletops of testable existence, & if we had eyes to see this outlandish world, we might see a swirling of mysterious cloudy forms, a blending of ourselves & our surroundings in a mystical dancing light, in salty jewels, our cloudy arms & hands would try to reach our cloudy chairs & sink & blend into a mad phantasmagoria… / We should be afraid until we learned that we were part of it, our bodies swirling clouds of atoms; but what’s important is that we would be seeing at the gate just beyond which is the home of Mystery, source of Soul, which is our truest life, our centrum… / Now where would we be if we stepped forward, through the gate, through the mysterious clouds of unknowing? / This makeshift shadowy world is a metaphor which is our chariot of choice, our light-inducting dark-proof vehicle ready to ride the road & river of space & time, to deliver us from evil, which is all that isn’t, in the vision of the cloud-bodied hungry soul, when it goes through the gate to the mystery of unanswering love.. / We see from there how all things flow outward toward wisdom, & back upon themselves toward joy, & that love is always answering, is the cloud formed into self, which is others & all, at once. E.M. Shorb We stand always on this side of the gate looking through to what is on the other side…it is light sometimes, it is dark at others…dare we go through?...in his brilliant poem Shorb says it for us.. • 20 years later he returned…it was the end of October…chill winds blew the last of the leaves in a wet swirl around his feet…the crisp fall day had not appeared as expected…instead the sky was leaden with the promise of rain in the near future…the road seemed longer than it did when he was a young man…the ruts were deeper now, filled with water from the previous days rain…was it always as dark as this?...it was only six o’clock and he was looking forward to tea by the fire…Maddy would always have a cake freshly baked and his mouth watered at the thought of it’s rich plummy goodness… / Only a few more turns now and he would see the house, rising above the trees, staid and comforting in it’s very chimneys, not beautiful like some, but reliable…always there…his spirits rose with excitement…surely Tom would still be there at the gate…the last he heard Tom was still going strong at 80…Tom always had a soft spot for him, despite everything…Tom was always on his side…and Maddy too of course…the old lady was another thing, but he was sure he could get round her again…he always could…he still had his good looks…no grey yet…hair still abundant…his clothes were shabby, but that was to be expected, and it would not be for long any way…tomorrow he would have enough money to buy a whole new suit…many new suits, if what he had heard was true… / He hurried on, eager now…..one last turn…the gate came into view…..the silence around him was palpable…the only sound he could hear was the far off cawing of some rooks in the wood to the left of him….the whole area was overgrown…the gate was firmly shut and barred…it was obvious no one had opened it for a long time…he stood aghast…why had he not written?...but he wanted to surprise them..truth be told he was afraid of getting an answer telling him to stay away…but it had been 20 years…surely that was long enough…and what had he done that was so bad? and hadn’t he been paying for it all this time at that god awful place? / He ran to the gate and started to shake it, trying to loosen the lock, but it held firm…the beautiful wrought iron was caked with years of rust, icy particles were already forming as the evening grew darker….he peered through the old metal lace, but there was only the insistent darkness pressing up against his face from the other side…the rooks cawed again, and suddenly he saw them in the trees above, staring mockingly down at him, as if to say “20 years too late”....by Janis Zroback Painted Negatively in Watercolour on 300lb Arches Not Paper 30×23in / Through The Gate
