She wears a traditional chinese costume with her feet slightly turned in. Flowers in her crazy ‘updo’ hair secured with a couple of chopsticks! Chinese Red Fan Girl stands before a warm glowing screen, patiently waiting for her little friend from Japan, ‘Little Blue Kimono’ to arrive. I decided to give Katie dark hair and a garland of flowers around her crown, also a subdued background which is rather classy. For the bride on their wedding shower day, or similar occasions.

There is a tshirt and a card in this design… / Kameko is from the ‘Asia Series’ by Karin Taylor / / This piece took a lot of time and patience, I hand painted lots of paper in different colours and cut into tiny pieces to create my mosaics. Then I drew my design and layed the tiny pieces down and glue them all on. Painstaking! I then worked on the image in Photoshop to give it a softer look, I used the filter called ‘Ink Outlines’ and another filter called ‘Watercolour’. In Japanese Kameko means ‘tortoise-child’ symbol for long life. I thought it appropriate, given the tiles which resemble tortoise shell

I have her on a black tshirt under the name ‘Little Kimino Blue’ but she isn’t actually wearing a kimono, although she wears an obi…...Asia Blue is wearing a mixed costume, half chinese half japanese…...so I will just call her ‘Asia Blue’ for ease ….as there has been quite a bit of confusion over this :) I wanted to have ‘Asia Blue’ on other coloured tshirts, as well as the black, so here she is, more coming soon !

Carpet Angels is from an illustration by Karin Taylor / This is the coloured version of ‘Jean Dolls’, The dresses were cut out and pasted on using a variety of different textured papers…..then the photo of the original taken into photoshop for some additional recolouring and texture.
