I have her on a black tshirt under the name ‘Little Kimino Blue’ but she isn’t actually wearing a kimono, although she wears an obi…...Asia Blue is wearing a mixed costume, half chinese half japanese…...so I will just call her ‘Asia Blue’ for ease ….as there has been quite a bit of confusion over this :) I wanted to have ‘Asia Blue’ on other coloured tshirts, as well as the black, so here she is, more coming soon !

Carpet Angels is from an illustration by Karin Taylor / This is the coloured version of ‘Jean Dolls’, The dresses were cut out and pasted on using a variety of different textured papers…..then the photo of the original taken into photoshop for some additional recolouring and texture.

It was a fun piece that has been popular, the original has already been sold to a doctor in Queensland, and prints requested overseas. It’s funny, the paintings you don’t think will be popular, are the ones that receive the most interest sometimes. The picture was taken using a Powershot G9 on manual setting. The lighting was done using 8 low energy Daylight bulbs in photographic reflectors shot against a black backdrop. Image was adjusted in painter 9 to give the extra contrast. She was a little self conscious and distracted at the beginning of the shoot. I don’t think the small crowd she brought with her helped really. It included her ex-lesbian girlfriend, her 6 year old daughter, and some guy. This shot was taken while she just relaxed and adjusted her skirt. In the end I got a good few shots that worked really well. This is one of the best.
