Thought since this seems to be my most popular piece I should perhaps upload a version of it big enough for those who care for it to have access to BIG PRINTS. So here you are then :) - Paul. Through A Glass Darkly. By Paul D Robertson Pastels 140 cms x 97 I like this piece very much. Sometimes in my work I can witness myself taking leaps of quality, and I believe that this is one of those times. It is an indescribable sensation to see my own hands make something such as this. I begin the with a person, a woman, before me, some materials – paper, chalk, paint. At the end of the slow still hours quickening my fingers, I surface from the fugue and wake from the trance of working. And sometimes I have something before me that is beautiful that did not exist, that what the world did not hold before I began. And it will last for centuries. I love the idea of obscured reflections and scattered and refracted light – my desire to work is pushed further every time I stumble upon something I know I must pursue. In many of my works, whenever it is practical, I will place a left-hand print on a wall or smudging a piece of glass. I have done this for years, and I will never stop. Recently the idea occurred to me that since this has become one of the defining symbols within my work, I could execute a piece based entire on the idea. So I made it happen. I forced it into existence. And I am so left handed, you see, that I almost walk with a limp.

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Flying Machine / by Karin Taylor / from the ‘Inspired Series’ / / Mixed Media / ink, chalk pastel, charcoal, acyrlic, mediums / silver, gold, bronze and rose metallic acrylics / adobe photoshop My most recent work, this piece was influenced by the ‘gliders’ in my family who have taken to the sky recently. My husband, my son and their friend Erich are all involved in a local gliding club…and always suggesting I paint an aeroplane lol I thought, there’s no way i can do that! / But i found a way, after lots of thinking on the subject to incorporate a sort of flying contraption i designed myself into this piece. My girl is onward bound and it’s semi-self portrait i guess you could say…altho most people don’t see the resemblance to me….she is a lot younger, perhaps how i would like to be thought of lol Also inspired by my lovely and ever patient friend Christine / a fabulous friend and textile artist, her threads and yarn and tactile things have affected me on an immense scale, so that all my work these days is imbued with these elements….although there is no actual wool or thread in the painting, i have used these as inspiration for her scarf and hair detail. The khaki overalls are what i wear when i’m painting, with a white singlet in summer, or a jumper in winter…...i am yet to find a hairdresser who could accomplish this hairstyle for me.. the little parrot represents conscience, a little voice that knows right from wrong….this is an idea loosely taken from a movie i saw a while ago ‘The Golden Compass’ I dedicate this painting to Christine, as she has listened to all my crazy ideas, and very carefully encourages me or points out things that may help, and i don’t know where i’d be without her…..thanx Chris :) Patchwork and patterns, repitition, daisies, journeys, serene expressions, genuity…..

Pastel on Paper, 70cm X 50cm. / Portrait of Jessie, also called Cat or Katt :P A step away from my usual lack of props, which is because as I always maintain I work with my models, so the parasol and such where her idea of how she wanted to show herself. / Now the burnt out has past, I think I likes it. / Looks much sharper then I remember it being, when you are in the zone to draw something like this you see nothing but faults. / Paid an arm and a leg for a pro photo, it’s pretty freaking sharp.

A portrait of my daughter, Jessica, painted in Pastel. We dressed her in a gown that had been my Mother’s and tried to replicate the era with her hairstyle, makeup and jewelry. This was painted with soft pastels on Canson paper which was a brown color. Hard pastel and pastel pencils were used sparingly where fine lines and details werre needed. 24”x18”

/ Media – pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour pencils, photoshop / Substrate – paper The young lady is The Bird Whisperer, she holds a small injured bird in her gloved hands….. his wing is broken from a fall he suffered when attacked by a larger bird….as the little birds are considered prey…..but he will be okay now he is in the care of ‘The Bird Whisperer’......she is gentle and kind and knows how to heal the little bird’s wing so that he will fly again From the “Connections” Series of new pencil drawings that reveal the connection between ourselves, each other and nature, I hope you like, thank you for looking ;)

Sixth artwork in my new Wonderland series, based off of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” ”`Well!’ thought Alice to herself, `after such a fall as this, I shall think nothing of tumbling down stairs! How brave they’ll all think me at home! Why, I wouldn’t say anything about it, even if I fell off the top of the house!’ (Which was very likely true.) – “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” Original artwork measures approx. 12.5×19” and was created with oil pastels, colored pencils, metaliic silver pens, and marker.
