This massed collection of brightly coloured footware was found and photographed on a market day at Bellingen , west of Coff’s Harbour on the north coast of NSW, Australia. Plecos, Hypostomus punctatusare, widely known as “the” algae eater at the fish store. Though it is seldom they tell you that they grow to be 2 feet long and will destroy your plants as they get bigger. They have also been known to get a bit more aggressive as they get older. They do a decent job of cleaning the glass. Bristle nose and rubber mouth plecos may be the best choice for a planted tank. The bristle nose stays a bit smaller than its cousins and is a nice addition to any planted tank, eating many forms of algae.

The visitors stay a whole night in the desert within mountains and with the sun rise, take a bath in a natural water pond, to wash their sins away and become clean again. Traditions are that you leave your old cloths and wear new ones to start a pious life again.

For 1000 years, millions of Chinese girls had the bone in the top off each foot broken and their crippled feet tightly bound with cloth to prevent them developing normally. Men lusted over women with bound feet, and voyeurs spied on girls removing their bindings. In the West women suffered in corsets, but the deformed foot fetish of the Chinese went to extremes, with the folded foot sometimes used as an ‘extra vagina’. Banned for more than 100 years, bound feet can no longer be seen. This historical photograph of two elderly women with tiny feet encased in exquisite shoes was taken in Kunming, Yunnan Province China in 1982. Nikon FM2, 50 mm lense and kodachrome slide film.
