  • this painting is about my sister who is sick with multiple sclerosis and taking care and doing everything to keep her husband alive, both were artists and musicians before their illnesses…it amazed me to see her pushing him in a wheelchair while using crutches and leg braces herself…i use items to symbolize how the heart still yearns to do the things they love but are now unable to do. the dolls represent the childhoods they never had. the ghost in the window is because my brother in law told me he sees dead people looking at him thru the window….the paint is mixed with my tears because i could not fight them throughtout the enitre painting….well…i changed the title because as of today december 6th, stephen has passed away, now i hope my sister can get thru this….... I also relate this to our soldiers in iraq, and anyone in a situation beyond their own control

  • Open the Door and Let Her In…... The woman watches / As the broken man begins to dance, / Could it be that in her presence / He is falling apart, / Or that the warmth of her gaze, / Finds him gradually becoming whole again. / His freedom, her absolution. The words fall useless on the ground, / Letters spilling into the dirt / Meaning discarded, / A blank page lays crumpled before her / Staring without judgment / At her trembling hand. / Reason is beyond reproach. Time tiptoes past unnoticed / On its way to someone else’s story / Hope follows regardless / And the sun rises and sets / On useless thoughts unguarded. / Who dares to walk this path? / Yet who dares to not. / / The woman listens / As the silent man begins to sing / The words dust themselves off / And join the fragile notes / In a private dance of healing / Truth’s melody cuts through time / And lays memory bare, Forgive me, it sings / I am only human. Thank you from the heart to Linaji / for her nomination of myself and this artwork, to the amazing Pay It Forward Group. I am deeply honoured to have my work included in this prestigious circle of creative souls, so thank you to the group hosts and especially to dear Linaji for her nomination and the following beautiful words that went with it….. / / “Wendy Slee has my vote for her image Forgiveness and her poem of the same name. Wendy and this image came to me at a perfect time in my life when I was at the point of allowing total forgiveness towards my father. Since that moment when I viewed her stunning work I have enjoyed a relationship with this amazing Soul. She is a leader here on the bubble and is fearless where her heart burns bright. Her exceptional work in Wildlife Appeal and her perfect timing in my life as friend and Co-Creator makes it easy for me to nominate Wendy and her work Forgiveness here at Play It Forward. Congrats you sweet heART!! You Deserve So Much!!”

  • Ok, as some of you know, I’ve had a pretty rough time recently and have taken up ‘mindfulness’. I completely lost my way just before I went away and wanted to use the 2 weeks to refresh my spirit. I took a load of books away with me and one was ‘The Monk who sold his Ferrari’. For those of you who may not know, it’s about an American multi-millionnaire lawyer who breaks down through stress and the pressure of life. He sells up everything and finds peace with the monks in India. He then comes back and shares the 7 virtues of life with others. This book is my bible and I truly believe in it. I’d just finished reading it when we went to Carcassonne. I could feel my soul being mended slowly and knew I’d found my path again. I walked into the medieval city and bumped into a friend from England who I hadn’t seen for quite a while. Weird enough. I then turned a corner and saw this man meditating, doing yoga and balancing crystals with some awesome music playing in the background. He was the book personified and he sent me a real message. This may sound corny but I strongly believe that these things are happening because the time is right and the messages are leading me to where I belong…. /

  • This is one of the best gifts ever received by me from my dearest artist wife…she specially made this in charcoal as once i had bet with her that she cannot portray perfect expressions in black & white and on my very next birthday she presented with this masterpiece making me speachless for ever rolling my tears filled with aweee and amazment….it was sheer magic for me and i guess you guys too with agree with me here that she defenately did a comendable job with her inborn talents of making portraits….i m so proud of her and her art too..!!!! / My Feelings looking at this fantastic artwork NEVER CRY FOR ANY RELATION IN LIFE / BECAUSE FOR THE ONE WHOM YOU CRY / DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR TEARS / AND THE ONE WHO DESERVES / WILL NEVER LET YOU CRY…...... ......... TREAT EVERYONE WITH POLITENESS / EVEN THOSE WHO ARE RUDE TO YOU, / NOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT NICE / BUT BECAUSE YOU ARE NICE…..... ......... ...... / / NEVER SEARCH YOUR HAPPINESS / IN OTHERS / WHICH WILL MAKE YOU / FEEL ALONE, / RATHER SEARCH IT IN YOURSELF / YOU WILL FEEL HAPPY / EVEN IF YOU ARE LEFT ALONE….... ......... ...... ALWAYS HAVE / A POSITIVE ATTITUDE IN LIFE. / THERE IS SOMETHING POSITIVE / IN EVERY PERSON. / EVEN A STOPPED WATCH IS RIGHT / TWICE A DAY…...... ......... ......... ......... . HAPPINESS ALWAYS LOOKS SMALL / WHEN WE HOLD IT IN OUR HANDS. / BUT WHEN WE LEARN TO / SHARE IT, / WE REALIZE HOW BIG AND PRECIOUS IT IS!......... ......... / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / This piece was nominated into the Pay it Forward Group by the wonderful Irene Burdell This is what she had to say about it: I love this particular picture because you can almost feel the devastation in the mind of this person and her child . When I first saw it and even now it brings tears to my eyes. / It really is a stunning work of art. Thanks a lot Irene for nominating my artwork, well it touched right to your heart b’cause you are also blessed with the same kind and generous heart my friend.

  • This elderly woman sits at the window and contemplates the world outside. She does not see far beyond the window frame because her world has diminished considerably. Two years ago she was officially diagnosed with dementia after a life threatening surgery and long hospital stay. However, her family and friends noticed a difference in her personality over the last several years. Once a proud and hard working single mom, she raised two children during the 60’s and 70’s at a time when single parenthood was not as widely accepted as it is today. At present, she is reduced to little more than the passive demeanor of a quiet child. She is aware of the reduction in both her mental and physical abilities. She also understands that she is helpless to change anything. / It takes great courage to face the inevitable. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia; it accounts for 64 per cent of all dementias. For example right now in the US, Alzeihmer’s has surpassed diabetes and is the sixth leading cause of death. As baby boomers are rapidly approaching the age of retirement it is believed that 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer’s in their lifetime. Currently, there are more than 24 million people in the world with dementia—this is estimated to rise to 81 million by the year 2040.6 / Statistics taken from both the Canadian and American Alzeihmer’s Society. / Published by Redbubble in Compassion, Courage and Friendship book October 2008 / Compassion, Courage & Friendship Top Ten in the Mood & Ambience, The Seated Human challenge, July 2009 / Featured in the Nirvana group October 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting group November 2008 / Featured in the RB Buyer’s Booth November 2008 / Featured in the Stillness Speaks group November 2008 / Featured on RB homepage on November 25/08 / The Fine Art of Photography

  • As I stood on the bank watching this young man paddle his canoe across the lake. He seemed to be unaware of the beauty that lay behind him. This made me think about all the beauty that we behold each and every day that we simply ignore or take forgranted. Sometimes we need to just stop and really take in all of the marvelous creations around us. Taken in Carrollton Georgia – Lake Carroll Nikon D80 / 55-200mm Tamron lense / 75mm length / f/22 / ISO 100 / 1/60 This is my new favorite!!! /

  • Here is my utmost. This is were life ends and death begins. It’s were death ends and life begins. In one picture is pain, suffering, injustice, judgment, helplessness, betrayal and the deepest sorrow; and yet there is an equal amount of hope, tenderness, compassion, forgiveness and healing. Here is a painting which captures the sacrificial love of Christ on behalf of helpless humanity, born and unborn. Philippians 2:6 says, “Christ who, existing in the form of G-d, counted not the being on an equality with G-d a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.”
