Puffin, Skomer Island, Wales
Postman butterfly feeding on a summer daisy.
This wattlebird was so engrossed in raiding the flowers it seemed to be totally oblivious to me, I really was only about 3 metres away from it. / I’m told the flower is known as redhot pokers.
A shot of a purple Finch eating at my birdfeeder.I’m still practicing, birds are not that easy to catch…. :))Birds always make a great card to give. / /
A giraffe feeding at Twycross Zoo.
cades cove in the great smoky mountains is notorious for the black bears. i am happy to say, this year has been an excellent year for viewing them. they have had food, and the park hasnt moved them out like they were caught doing last year. / yesterday morning shooting in the cove, i am upon a mama bear and her two cubs feeding in a cherry tree / this mama was after a particular branch, and she went up and down for it, finally chewing it off. / best if viewed larger
She was being so gentle with the pigeons, and was oblivious to all around her. This was taken in St Marks Square, Venice on a Winter’s morning. Created from the original photograph, a textured background, two different scratch brushes and then a lomo/cross processing layer for colour effect. / The corners were burnt in to create interest. The photographs from our European trip have all lended themselves to being grunge or texture processed, due to the dull winter colours and rain. I think it gives the viewer an idea of how it felt to actually be there. Featured in Red Bubble Home Page
This pic gives away my secret, we feed them regularly, we quite often get two breeding hatches a year as a result, I think thats why? Two missing from this shot, a male and a female. They make up the full compliment that live in our garden. We started out with only one pair, so we think we are so lucky!

Top 10 placing in Elegant Elephants challenge, February 2009. I visited the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand in May 2007. At the end of the day, Lek, the amazing Thai woman who started the park for injured and orphaned elephants, came for a visit. Both the elephants and all the dogs at the park came running to see her, and to have a little snack. Please click here to find out more about the park. Australian Noisy Miner Bird (Manorina melanocephala), sipping the nectar from the Red Eucalypt flowers.
This is Chloe’s delightful Hammy Minnie (she sleeps in the lounge – in her cage of course! at night as she has the tendancy to eat the bars of the cage and generally do whatever it is that Hamsters do – not good when you have to rise at 5.30am though!) so now we get her clonking through our films and programmes but it’s worth it – she and Ollie have come to a recent understanding – he looks at her and she at him! Now just before we retire we pop a little treat in her house – at the moment it’s banana chips! Here she is waiting to see if anything will come out of the camera – I swear she is smiling! Chloe has yet to see this shot so this will be a nice surprise for her I think! I would prefer for the bowls not to be in the shot but to crop them out would mean losing so much of the photo – it’s reality shooting :) Taken with the Canon 400d with the Canon 50mm lens – no flash fired taken in the Tungsten light mode – slightly sharpened and noise removed in Paintshop due to the plastic of the cage! Hope she makes you smile :) Placed 1st in the “Playful Photogenic Pets group challenge / The other Pets Sept 09 / Featured in Pet Rodents 1st June ‘09 / Placed 2nd in the Pets are Us June Avatar Challenge 29th May 09 / Featured in Pets are Us 13th May ‘09* Thank you :))) / Featured in Funny Kritters Feb 14th 09 Thankyou we are all thrilled :))

Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird work as a team when feeding their babies. Both are avid hunters, going wherever the pickings can be found. In this case, Dad’s serving up cricket casserole while Mom’s whipping up some spider souffle. Babies aren’t particular; they eat just about anything. I love watching this pair appear at the nestbox with a wide variety of fare. Dad tends to serve things on a larger scale while Mom offers daintier portions. I saw him with multiple caterpillars dangling from his bill; quite a feat to catch and carry but he does it expertly! It’s very rare that both male and female land on a given spot together so I spliced two photos together in order to convey the idea of their concerted efforts on behalf of their little family.
Some of you will know that I’ve been following the progress of these little robins since I spotted the eggs in a nest in our garden shed. And I’ve been stalking them since, much to the bemusement of their mum who I keep disturbing… They are now at the stage that they ask for food whenever they hear any noise which they think might be bringing food… [Sony a350, Sigma 105mm, flash, f:6.3, 1/125, ISO-100, Converted from RAW) Also in the series… Just before taking off alone… / The eggs in the nest / The mum keeping the eggs warm /

Baby Snowy Owl (bubo scandiacus) ... yeah I know he doesn’t live up to his name yet. He was creating quite a racket, squawking for someone, anyone, to feed him! Canon EOS 50D with Canon EF 24-105mm L f/4
On his way to the feeder – This shot was taken in front of my metal planting shed….hence the background, cropped it from the original and put on the grey border and merged in my favorite pink Camelia for some color…I hope you enjoy…Please view in large format for optimum viewing pleasure…. / Hummingbird settings / Canon G10 / Camera Mode: Aperture Priority AE / Shutter Speed: 1/320 / Aperture Value: 4.0 / ISO Speed: 400 / Macro mode – hand held /
