This was just a lucky catch. My wife got some tulips for her birthday and I took one out as the sun was setting to try a get a nice shot. I put the vase down & as soon as I turned my back I heard the hummer behind me, I turned back around and had time to get off one shot before he realized he wasn’t interested in tulips. been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

Wow .. I was so absolutely thrilled to see this today .. I went to the bank and was later going to the woods to take a few photos ..I looked up because everyone one else is looking up…and there in the city ( not right downtown ) , sitting on a ledge where pigeons usually are on a store is this magnificent bird … Surprized to say the least !! Im so glad I had my camera with me .. I cant believe that hes living in this area .. lots of cars & people ..silly bird .. theres forest woods and a valley not to far from where I was and live .. This is so unreal to see him where I live !!!

My love of red things, quirky things, dress ups and rolling around in the dirt all come together! Most of my art is inspired by “stuff” and the location. Then I improvise. / For this shoot I had the location in mind but nothing else, so I packed a suitcase with random dress ups and we headed out to see what we could make of it. I couldn’t resist having a theatrical glamorous darling posing in a dirty cupboard with a feather boa and a horse.
