A photograph of a male Andean Condor, with blurred edges. / Photograph was taken at Zoo Boise. / The Andean Condor is a threatened South American vulture due to habitat loss and poisoning by hunters. It is often thought that the Condor bones and organs possess magical healing powers. And like the wolf, this bird also gets blamed for livestock attacks. The Andean Condor is nearly extinct in Venezuela and Colombia.

Oh my what was that stunning thing that walked in to my life sitting on the city streets so calm it went unnoticed. / I passed it by so many times but this time its something different. / Its finally come in to full bloom its spread its wings to fly. / what is this thing with pretty wings that flutter’s all day long? / At my first glance I thought it was a butterfly. / But no my friend its settled in its wings are prisoners here! / But such a lovely pretty thing should be free to fly!

As with many other gull species, / the Silver Gull has become a successful scavenger, / readily pestering humans for handouts of scraps, pilfering / from unattended food containers or searching for human / refuse at tips.
