In Cappadocia, a local vendor covered this old branch with evil eye beads. His shop sits on a hill above the village of Uçhisar castle, carved into the volcanic tuff of the region. The evil eye beads I remember from my time in Turkey had yellow in them, unlike most of the ones we saw during our journey. They became talismans to conquer what ancient civilizations feared, such as nighttime dark, storms, earthquakes and eclipses. The blue symbolizes the sky, the white is the aura of the moon, the yellow is the sun disc, and the black spot in the middle is that little bit of evil eating away at the light. In Turkey, the belief is that evil eye beads ward off the effects of the “evil eye,” such as envy or jealousy, and bounce back any curses or ill will. You will see an evil eye bead pinned to the clothing of an infant, hanging from the rear view mirror of a vehicle, decorating the harness of a horse, painted on the back of a big truck/lorry, placed over a doorway… If it breaks, you can grin and throw it away; it has done its job!
This is my favorite photo of all! There is a wild red rose by my kitchen door. Late one afternoon, I was clipping tired blooms from the clusters; some clusters were hanging down. As I reached for this one to turn it over, a glimpse of gold flashed in the low sun. I looked again and discovered this tiny little frog napping in the heart of the bloom. I had only the negative and a small digital file from a scan, and it has taken me a month to get it into the appropriate high-resolution format where I can finally offer it for sale! This is taken from the second story deck on the front of our home in Southeast Missouri. Our home is the only one on the lake and it starts were our front yard ends. / Only once in a great while does everything comes together to make conditions ideal for a image that turns out to be perfect. I think this is the closest I have come in over three thousand sunset pictures taken. I have only saved 551 of those thousands of sunset photos. This one is my favorite of all those I have ever taken. Nikon D40X as is /

ICELAND – Emotional Landscapes Series Waterfall “Skogafoss”, Iceland H o m e P a g e F e a t u r e “Majestic Fall” was featured in the group European Everyday Life 1st place in WATERFALLS challenge in the Lakes and Inland Waterways group. TOP 10 in challenge “Who wants to be the new avatar?” in group Landscape and Abstract Photography TOP 10 in challenge “Waterfall Groum avatar challenge” in group Waterfall Photography From Wikipedia The waterfall *Skógafoss, [‘skou.aˌfos], is situated in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. After the coastline had receded into the sea (it is now at a distance of about 5 km from Skógar), the cliffs stayed behind parallel to the coast over hundreds of kilometers, creating together with some mountains a clear border between the Lowlands and the Highlands of Iceland. The Skógafoss is one of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls of the country with a width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters. Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days. According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. A local boy found the chest years later, but was only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again. At the eastern side of the waterfall, a hiking and trekking trail leads up to the pass Fimmvörðuháls between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. It goes down to Þórsmörk on the other side and continues as the famous Laugavegur to Landmannalaugar.

It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches.
