Page of diary “Travaux d’artistes au cours du jour”. The work shown here are taken from the exhibition ‘Travaux d’artistes au cours du jour’, held at Galllery La Tête d’Obsidienne, La Seyne sur Mer’ in 1985. Five artists in total presented works made during a period of seven days- seven days working and filling the gallery space. As part of this group, rather than produce an individual work to display, Pascale Baud decided to document and then re-contextualise this documentation, of the artists at work, filling the space of the gallery. “I wanted to be a witness to the ‘filling up’ of the gallery I chose Polaroid to grasp the transformation. Each day at the same moment in the same place I took seven Polaroids. From these images I made photocopies, re-working these by drawing over them with pastel. These I called ‘faux-Polaroid’. ” Both originals and copies were then collated into a diary, pages from which are shown on the right. by Sean Cousin * Page of the diray with “pastels”

I thought I would get some color in here. I have been on a roll with my B&W ball point pen pieces and my profile is getting a bit colorless. This is an ongoing piece in progress. Every time I change colors out mid sign production I apply the excess in the brush here and on my other “ab-scrap” works. Check out my journal entry ab-scraps It better explains the process. This is one of my earlier posts from the “Techniques and Faux Bravura” collection, which newcomers to my pages may not have seen before…it is now featured in Decorative and Traditional Painting I am very pleased / Lapis Lazuli “Lapis Lazuli” is part of the Faux Bravura collection…this collection of paintings work well when grouped together on a wall…they are many and varied…metal, patinas, design, stone, marbles, textures, wood et al, in oils, watercolour, acrylics and other mediums…Lapis Lazuli is a semi-precious gemstone..painted in oils on board. Thank you so much.

The digital tiles used in the background swirl to add dynamic flow and a sense of movement to the image, while the tiles used to depict the flowers follow the contour of the petals and radiate our from the flower’s stem. I have been made aware that my photographic subject matter tends to be leaning a little in the rural direction. That makes total sense living in northwest Missouri and working in southwest Iowa. It doesn’t get much more rural that that. I drive by lots of mailboxes that are abandoned or at least look like it and started taking photos of them. I put together this triptych with three of them using my Photoshoped TTV border. Colors and saturation also adjusted in Photoshop. / Canon EOS 10D / Tamron 28-200
