Razed: That is overturned or overthrown which had stood upright; that is destroyed whose component parts are scattered; that is demolished which had formed a mass or structure; that is dismantled which is stripped of its covering, as a vessel of its sails, or a fortress of its bastions, etc.; that is razed which is brought down smooth, and level to the ground. An ancient pillar is overturned or overthrown, the walls of a castle, a church, or any structure, real or imaginary, may be demolished; a fortress may be dismantled from motives of prudence, in order to render it defenseless. source: Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996 medium: coloured pencils on 185gsm Arches paper. size: 42×59.4cm (A2) currently listening to: Scream by Timbaland

Have just returned from a marvelous week studying fauve style painting in oils with the very talented Paul McCarthy. What a week it was! Paul is the original court jester and we had a stream of students from other classes at Grafton Artsfest wandering in to investigate the laughter emanating from our group. 50 tutors and 6 days of mayhem- gotta love that! / This still life was set up on the classroom floor, was around 1.5 metres across, and we all painted just a part of it. I always thought still life was a s boring as batshit- but WRONG!!!! / The bit that really did my head in was that the class was held in the very art room where I realised during high school that I am an artist….. 32 years ago.
medium: composite of an original watercolour painting and a charcoal drawing, scanned and digitally manipulated in photoshop currently listening to: PM Dawn – Set Adrift On Memory Bliss
Another colorful acrylic painting of wolves. I used a lot of bold, expressive color and shape in this one…which I love doing:) I left a lot to the viewer’s imagination. Thanks for looking at my work! :)

ORIGINAL AVAILABLE / view my current eBay listings I’ve been reading a little about wereism, shape-shifters, etc. lately. I’m not someone who believes everything they read, but I do find it fascinating… particularly trying to visualise how a person transforming into an animal might look. In Shamanism, snakes represent the cycle of transformation through birth, death and rebirth, due to their ability to shed their skin. Snake people are often very wise and have the power to renew themselves. currently listening to: Black Snake Moan – Samuel L. Jackson medium: charcoal and acrylic on 185gsm watercolour paper size: 29.7cm x 42cm (A3)
This pic is inspired by one of the lovely images by fellow bubbler Sharon K Shubert – check her out, she’s great! / In her latest images, she’s paying tribute to autumn/fall, but we are approaching spring here in New Zealand, hence the title. / Deciduous tree has been inverted and layered with a brown autumn leaf. Thanks Sharon for the inspiration. :)
