Tired yet happy; a mother and child. The far away look and tired expression remind me of Dorothea Lange’s photo “Migrant Mother”, obviously without the desperate circumstances and social commentary.
istanbul…...we had been walking for a long while trying to find the spice market in the old part of town…. and wandered a bit off course without realising. we had been walking for what seemed like forever in a bit of a daze and then we noticed that there weren’t any other people around and the buildings were all partly destroyed I don’t know what from but about three blocks were trashed with some of the buildings reduced to nothing more than a pile of rubble…. I spied this one and got a couple of shots before we started getting a little scared and ran back the way we’d come….
I shot this youngster from a descrete distance. I wish I could have gone to chat a little with him but I don’t think he would have appreciated it. Maybe he was just fatigued. This was shot very early on a Sunday morning.
I sketched it then Shakira Rivers brought this one to life. It was fun to see what results I was going to get back after she agreed to work on it. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised at the results. I speak for me and Shakira when I say thank you for your comments.

Something a little different after all the cosmos and landscape shots … one of my favourite photos of my daughter, taken last year – converted into a colour sketch in Paint Shop Pro.
re-done with darker water to represent the isolation that my son feels with chronic fatigue and depression.
One of a three part series, exploring the true answers to questions such as: “How are you?” or “How are you feeling?” or “Are you feeling better now?” or “Surely things have improved?” or “Why don’t you just go out and do something? Won’t that make you feel more lively?” or Etc. There may be more later, as it is a subject that is a HUGE part of my life. Maybe I’ll also paint a picture of a person dragging along an enormous torture stake with the planet balanced on it, tied up like a piece of luggage, all on his back and someone standing nearby, carrying a light weight purse saying “Oh, but EVERYONE gets tired!” Everyone, for your information, is a very large group of people who mostly don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. (I can say hell, because I don’t believe in it) This is more the sadness of not being understood, not being acceptable to others because of things that cannot be helped, not being able to be yourself : not the way you dress, because the clothes you want to wear hurt your flesh just being near it;; not in the things you do because you haven’t the energy, flexibiity, because your muscles cramp up; not in romance, because there is very little romance to be had for a person who is constantly having to run off to the bathroom or needing to spit or otherwise engaging in habits that others would prefer not to cuddle with – not to mention that cuddling makes you feel hot and achy, so you avoid people who want to do it. You get the general picture, I’m guessing. This is also a Self Portait Digital Painting

grayish-green, like an unripe olive / •(of the complexion) yellowish brown; sallow part of a ttv (through the viewfinder) series Theory: / TTV (Through The Viewfinder) photography is when you use an old medium format camera and a digital camera. / These old medium format twin reflex cameras have large viewfinders. Firstly you compose your image using the medium format camera (in my case i have used a mamiya c33) then you actually take the picture using a digital camera (here i use my pentax K10) of what is in the viewfinder of the old camera.
