Taken in natural light Two good sports and lifetime performers and companions – My father and mother. This image was inspired by American Gothic – a painting by Grant Wood from 1930. Portraying a pitchfork-holding farmer and a younger woman (imagined to be his wife or daughter) in front of a house of Carpenter Gothic style, it is one of the most familiar images in 20th century American art. Wood wanted to depict the traditional roles of men and women as the man is holding a pitchfork symbolizing hand labor. Wood referenced late 19th century photography and posed his sitters in a manner reminiscent of early American portraiture.

OMG the very talented RACHEL LEIGH has nominated JUST BOOTS for the Pay it Forward Group She said ” “I love this photo because I know how difficult it is to get good pet shots and the lighting is just superb in this photo. Boots is as cute as can be and she captured him beautifully!” To me this is the highest compliment, thanking you so very much Rachel :O)) Waiting patiently for his morning walk…... Boots our dearest Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, has the unfortunate name, as being black and tan he has golden lower legs. He was born during the rugby world cup when England actually won something and as his breeder was a rugby fan she called him Golden Boots, after Johny Wilkinson! Started photography May 2008 Sold laminated print RB 23/03/09 BILLYBOY gave the most wonderful compliment when choosing Just Boots. I’m actually kind of glad this is in the Paws & Claws group because now that I’ve been given the opportunity to choose a picture from the group to single out, it’s fitting that my favorite pet picture of all time is right here so I can tell the world just how deeply I love it… / There are so many ways this works for me. The depth of field and selective blur draws attention to the perfect focusing on and around that amazing face, and I like the way the crop being slightly off center works so perfectly with the drape of the ears and the shape of the body. / The lighting is perfect and so natural… no blown out highlights or loss of shadow detail… the quality and direction of the lighting bring out that amazing detail in the facial fur and allows for that subtle reflection on the contrasting smooth surface into which he seems to be slowly melting. Also, the color space of the background matches the subject so perfectly that it’s a pleasing image to the eye even without taking the artistic level of the content into consideration. But I think what REALLY gets to me about this amazing shot is the affect the shooting angle has on drawing me into this pooch’s character. We’re down at his level, as if on equal terms with his world, and I feel as if I’m staring straight into his soul through those deep and all-knowing eyes… the connection between me and Boots is personal through this stunning image. This is a massive work of art and I am honored to be able to exaplin why it’s so special to me. Thanking you so very much Billy, it is such a wonderful compliment. xx Taken with my Sony F717, 800 ISO equiv. Lighting courtesy of my daughter holding a torch as there wasn’t enough natural light! Changed partially to sepia, then bluring and darker tones added for mood…..... Would make a super card ideal for any occasion, Birthday, Thank You, etc…. © Copyright 2008 Squealia, All Rights Reserved /
“O my Father, thou that dwellest / In the high and glorious place, / When shall I regain thy presence / And again behold thy face? / In thy holy habitation, / Did my spirit once reside? / In my first primeval childhood / Was I nurtured near thy side?” / / “For a wise and glorious purpose / Thou hast placed me here on earth / And withheld the recollection / Of my former friends and birth; / Yet ofttimes a secret something / Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,” / And I felt that I had wandered / From a more exalted sphere.” / / “I had learned to call thee Father, / Thru thy Spirit from on high, / But, until the key of knowledge / Was restored, I knew not why. / In the heav’ns are parents single? / No, the thought makes reason stare! / Truth is reason; truth eternal / Tells me I’ve a mother there.” “When I leave this frail existence, / When I lay this mortal by, / Father, Mother, may I meet you / In your royal courts on high? / Then, at length, when I’ve completed / All you sent me forth to do, / With your mutual approbation / Let me come and dwell with you.” “O My Father” is a Latter-day Saint (LDS or Mormon) hymn written by Eliza R. Dear friends… Per the request of my dear friend Sarah Moore I am re-uploading a dream request I created for her and her family in the honor of her baby boy Axel. Sarah…since the day you asked me to create your dream request of your sweet Axel…was the day I felt like Axel stepped into my heart. I’ve never put so much passion into one image in my life. And to explain in more detail…it takes me some time to create a new image…but when I created this of your boy…everything came to me like 2nd nature. I really and truly feel in my heart, that a little helper was at my side when I made this. I wanted to tell you this when I first created it for you…but knew how emotional the times were…so with that…I am once again honored to share the spirit of Axel! Many of you will remember, and some of you may be new to the news of Sarah Moore’s little boy Axel. Please read below. Sad news …This is Rosalie, Sarah’s mum writing on Sarah’s behalf. / Locals may have heard already on the news of the drowning of a 15mth old in the northwest of Sydney. This is Axel, Sarah and Glen’s little son. / As you can imagine everyone is devestated. One never expects it to happen in your own family … / Please feel free to leave messages here if you feel so moved – they are rather overwhelmed with calls and all the due processes right now but do appreciate the care that their friends are offering. / Feel free to bubblemail me directly (RosalieDale) if you have any questions or any direct messages – I’ll check in a couple of times a day just to check for mail. / Thank you all … / Rosalie Sarah’s Heart Felt Thanks / I finally have a few minutes to catch my breath and thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughts, prayers and incredible generosity. The Redbubble community have been amazing and all my family and friend have commented on the love and support demonstrated by you all. / I thought as so many of you couldn’t be with us at the funeral to celebrate Axel’s life, that I would put the transcript here along with some pictures. / There were over 300 people at the funeral from all over Australia. Please click on this Link to continue reading. Sarah & Family…although little Axel is not here physically, he is here for you spiritually…and I feel truly in my heart that he is as happy as ever…_visiting his favorite orange tree, being an adventurer…and yes still a bad dancer, but still moving to the beat. Love you Sare…you know I’m always here for you! xoxo Here are some personal favorite pictures of Axel (if you would like to comment, you can click on the pictures). / I would also like to say Happy Birthday to Sarah’s other son TY…today he is the exact same age as Axel the day he he took his journey! / While once again looking through the beautiful images of axel…I noticed the amazing genorosity created by others in the memory of sweet Axel. I provided the links below… There are also so many BEAUTIFUL writings pertaining to sweet little axel…if you would like to read them…just type Axel in the search engine! Imagine if you will, a door / There is nothing special about this door / Its white, with a handle at its centre / Just like any other door Imagine now that the door swings open / Revealing a field of flowers / Spread as far as the eye can see Imagine then that there is a path / Which winds its way through the field / Meandering here and there / With no real purpose And on the path is a gorgeous little boy / His golden hair is mussed in the wind / And his laughter rings out to you across the field You start to call out to him / To call him back / But he is on a journey / To places where you can’t follow Your heart breaks realising you must let him go / That he is strong and brave / Embarking on a never-ending adventure Gently you close the door / Knowing that you can open it at any time / To watch him, to remember / With tears streaming down your face / You whisper “Be safe little one” Written by the mother of Axel…Sarah Moore /
Mr. and Mrs. Bluebird work as a team when feeding their babies. Both are avid hunters, going wherever the pickings can be found. In this case, Dad’s serving up cricket casserole while Mom’s whipping up some spider souffle. Babies aren’t particular; they eat just about anything. I love watching this pair appear at the nestbox with a wide variety of fare. Dad tends to serve things on a larger scale while Mom offers daintier portions. I saw him with multiple caterpillars dangling from his bill; quite a feat to catch and carry but he does it expertly! It’s very rare that both male and female land on a given spot together so I spliced two photos together in order to convey the idea of their concerted efforts on behalf of their little family.

I made This for the CORE Against Abuse Challenge First thing I saw on the news this morning was that a 3 yr old little boy had been beaten to death for wetting his pants = ( Then I saw the CORE challenge and I began working on this image. It makes me sick to think of that poor child. I cannot articulate the words to even describe how it made me feel to imagine having an accident, probably from fear, and the ones you depend on go into a rage so extreme they beat you to death… The last memory that child had was someone whom he depended on beating him. We need stricter laws and more accountability so badly. He and his younger sister had actually been taken from them, but then were returned after completing an anger management course. Where was the state? This didnt have to happen, as is so often the case. I could write all day on the system failures and loop holes that keep putting innocent children back into the hands of abusers. / It breaks my heart. Story Here Thanks for viewing Detail Crop Below / Calling All Angels Something I wanted to share and it seems appropriate for my mood. Lyrics / I need a sign to let me know you’re here / All of these lines are being crossed over the atmosphere / I need to know that things are gonna look up / ‘Cause I feel us drowning in a sea spilled from a cup When there is no place safe and no safe place to put my head / When you feel the world shake from the words that are said [Chorus:] / And I’m calling all angels / I’m calling all you angels I won’t give up if you dont give up [Reapeat x4] I need a sign to let me know you’re here / ‘Cause my TV set just keeps it all from being clear / I want a reason for the way things have to be / I need a hand to help build up some kind of hope inside of me [Chorus] When children have to play inside so they don’t disappear / And private eyes solve marriage lies cause we don’t talk for years / And futbol teams are kissing Queens / and losing sight of having dreams / In a world that what we want is only what we want until it’s ours [Chorus x2] Calling all you angels [Repeat till fade]

This classy Lady is “The Ambassador” of her country, talking to the audience, to the world about it…representing her nation with pride and dignity. / To emphasize the elegance of the painting, I added Gold everywhere where it seems to be yellow, and a fine, barely noticeable Silver in her dress, above her eye and her beads. / In real it is a very rich and sophisticated looking piece. Original: / Acrylic on Stretched canvas, 16/20in Available This painting was Featured in “NO! NO! NOT THE COMFY CHAIR!!!” Group on Dec. 14. 2009
