The Moment
beauty is existing only in your eyes ….
Based on a title from a Kurt Vonnegut short story, this drawing was made with colored pencil on rag paper.
This is a new version of this work fitting it into RB card format. I did this in Photoshop Elements. It’s a better card now… maybe it’ll train others to look for the “fickle hand of their fate” in the surrounding landscape. ; – )) A few years back while climbing around the rocks of the Dragoon Mountains in southeastern Arizona I looked up at a monolith rock face and saw what looked like a giant hand. I quickly got out my sketch book and pen, found a perch, and began to draw. / At one point I needed to shift, so grasped my book with my left hand, my thumb pinching down firmly so not to drop the book. Once settled I realized my thumb had pressed into the illustrator marker color and left a perfect thumb print. I laughed at the detail of such an art signature, added my name over top, and finished the sketch. / The name came to me in the same fit of humor… liking the juxtaposition of God’s hand and a double meaning for the word “Bluff”. I drew this in my 5.5”x8.5” Canson sketch book while in the field. This new presentation has been part of an experiment to update all my original RB uploads into RB card format. Late long hours have been involved… but hey, I’m retired from the work-a-day world… so I can join the work-a-night-crawler world! ; – ))))
Our looming fate is beyond us in the swirling depths of the ocean, gathering with each strike of anger and wisp of despair.
