This series is the result of me NOT shooting anything for over 7 months. Well, I should correct myself. I did shoots. Just not with people. I guess I was rebelling against using people and just did macro photography with inanimate (lifeless?) objects. / Then, while in a craft store, I spied this mask, and wow, it struck me how ‘perfect’ it was. “How did they make this”, I thought too myself, “who’s face did they use to model this from?” Etc etc. So together with someone I trusted, and who trusted me, I set out to end my seven month dry spell.

Got very lucky with this one as nearly all the dyes were transferred onto the blotting paper. The blotting paper used has a very rough texture and because the skin tones and corset are quite light you can really see the texture of the paper used. This image was shot on transparency film and the transparency was manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film where the film is pulled apart before a positive can be processed. The dyes remaining on the Polaroid film were then transferred by rolling onto blotting paper. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice. There will always be a different amount of dye remaining on the film each time you do it making each image different from the last. More works created using this technique can be found here An emulsion lift off was also created of this image and can be found here
An interpretation of the grace, poise and emphasis on accepting femininity as represented by tribal bellydance instructor/star Natalie Brown of Alternacirque. We started shooting last minute simple headshots and then towards the end I envisioned a concept which I then ‘supernaturalized’ with photoshop. Hope you like. I am still working on the other images in this series. I like challenging myself in new ways, with my self-portraits. And i thought it would be interesting to see if i could make it look like i was interacting with myself . . . in some way. I shot this series against a green screen. The background was taken from a photo-shoot i did at an industrial site in Seattle, Washington. The watchman was kind of enough to let me onto the grounds and gave me a tour and all access pass with my camera. I wanted to convey the extreme sadness i feel with manic depression. Over the years i have discovered that sadness is often anger, spread really thin, masquerading as melancholy. Anger is an emotion i have a very difficult time allowing myself to feel and express, i often repress it. As a child i was not allowed to express my feelings or my anger. There is a detachment that comes with sadness, a disconnect from the self, from the world . . . BUT i am in a good place at the present moment and i am getting better at managing the emotional tidal waves that manic depression brings. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / You might also like . . . / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / View All Art » 1 2 3 4 5 6 browse Jaeda’s photographic art by category: / dreamscapes, artistic nudes, couples, glamour, erotica, conceptual, sensual, portrait, spiritual, survivor art / /
