The boathouse at Loch Farr in the Highlands. I took this shot looking the opposite direction from the None Fishing photograph.
Located at Fullarton, South Australia (one of Adelaide’s leafy eastern suburbs), the derelict building was once called the West Block and was built in 1967. The derelict building was owned by the Julia Farr Hospital (formerly known as the Home for Incurables) but sold to developers several years ago. It has been derelict now for about ten years.
This was taken in my back yard of the sunset after all the rain clouds. “The poetry of the earth is never dead” -John Keats Quote contributed by Bill billfox256
Taken on a very still day at Loch Farr, this photo shows the reflection of trees in the surface of the loch. I like it because it fools the eye into thinking you are looking up instead of down.

This is part of the an old home for people with serious and permanent disabilities, once housing around 800 people, now only 100 or so because of the movement against institutionalisation in favour of community absorbtion and responsibility. It is an incredible place, with wonderful clients and extraordinarily dedicated staff, but this part is eery. Closed down many years ago because of asbestos, it has been a source of controversy and acrimonious parish pump politics. A month ago we snuck in through a hole in the fence and took some photos (couple somewhere on my site). Next week we attempted the same, but were accosted by the neighbouhood Captain Trespass, who warned of dire prosecution if we even thought – even began to think – of going in, and tactfully observed that the place was a “magnet for undesirables”. So I called the owners, who said no problem at all, and today went in, somewhat sadly, “with permission”; and equally sadly, was not accosted by the magnificent neighborhood Captain Trespass… Just in time because after decades they are cleaning up to knock it down (the plastic bags are filled with rubble and dirt)... When I took this photo I didn’t recognize the graffiti and had no idea of its morbid omination of institutionalisation… /

You can see in the eyes of a cat, that they are not far from their wild past. The instinct…The drive….It remains untamed. It only waits to be unleashed.
