  • The Red-Legged Partridge (Alectoris rufa) is abundant around my cottage, a couple of winters ago I woke one morning to see sixteen of them huddled in my garage with frosty backs trying to keep out of the wind. The males often stand on the roof of an old stable nearby and declare their teritory in the spring time.
