The Red-Legged Partridge (Alectoris rufa) is abundant around my cottage, a couple of winters ago I woke one morning to see sixteen of them huddled in my garage with frosty backs trying to keep out of the wind. The males often stand on the roof of an old stable nearby and declare their teritory in the spring time.

A storm approaches our farm in Vans Valley in Cave Spring, Georgia. That is the roof of Buck’s Barn, named in honor of a wonderful Montgomery cousin. another barn left to ruin in the town of Lezay – we call this “the lost village” but not for much longer as the new houses could be taking over :( This would have been a barn for storage of grain/hay etc…
