The Story Underneath the Tree

The storms may come and limbs may break; / Yet others bend beneath the weight— / Of heavy rain and windy breeze… / A storm can mark the strongest trees. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- / Taken at Mackay, Queensland. Thank you to Redbubble for featuring Storm on the Rise on their homepage in April, 2008 and for publishing it in their book Gaia – The Living Planet. /

The grass so little has to do, / A sphere of simple green, / With only butterflies to brood, / And bees to entertain, And stir all day to pretty tunes / The breezes fetch along, / And hold the sunshine in its lap / And bow to everything; And thread the dews all night, like pearls, / And make itself so fine, / A duchess were too common / For such a noticing. / And even when it dies, to pass / In odors so divine, / As lowly spices gone to sleep, / Or amulets of pine. And then to dwell in sovereign barns, / And dream the days away, / The grass so little has to do, / I wish I were the hay! by Emily Dickinson / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / Bowen, Queensland

Bind me not to the pasture, chain me not to the plow. / Set me free to find my calling and I’ll return to you somehow. / If you find it me you’re missing, if you’re hoping I’ll return. / To your thoughts I’ll soon be listening, and on the road I’ll stop and turn. / Then the wind will set me racing as my journey nears its end. / And the path I’ll be retracing when I’m homeward bound again. / by Kaelyn Archer / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- I travel between north and south Queensland a few times per year – a distance of 1500km. Along the Marlborough stretch between Rockhampton and Mackay, I pass quite a few cattle stations…this is one of them

Location: Vineyards near South Rd Aldinga Beach, South Australia I wasnt happy with the light & colours on the origonal, so I made some adjustments (to the extream I saturated it). I’m watching these vines every week to see how the light changes on them at differnt times of the day. I’m also going to watch the seasons change. I love the lines & wont to get it just right. Once upon this was a dining chair – but now it spends long days outside the back fly-screen door – dried and cracked. / ... / The “FIL” sits upon it to pull boots on in morning. / ... / All day the chair sits, unmoving, uncaring, withstanding the sun. / ... / He sits down at night to wrench boots off. / ... / All night the chair stays, tolerating possums, ignoring the dog, withstanding the dew. / ... / This chair has done well thus far.
