A lavender bush in a cottage garden
This old farmhouse sits on a dirt road near Elevenmile Reservoir in Colorado. I really liked its country charm and i am drawn to these old abandoned places. It had a for sale sign out front…... oh if only i had a few dollars…............. Cloned out the powerlines, bumped up the saturation, and added an HDR effect using Corel’s Paint Shop Pro XI.
This is my cousin’s holiday farmhouse in Maine – New England Region USA. It is about 150 years old and made up of many parts which were added over its life. None of the floors are level and it has a meandering internal layout with narrow staircases and low cielings.
The abandoned farmhouse continues! / / After I opened the front door, I couldn’t go in. / There was a huge drop off there, so I had to go / around. When I went inside, this is what I saw. / (And sadly, the door in my “Welcome Home” photo had / been ripped off. But the ivy remained..) / / I’ll be adding more from this series later, so keep checking back! ;) / / / / / / More from this series: / / Welcome Home / Tattered And Torn / Wild Horses / 1989 / I Remember You /
This is exactly how it looked in 1989. The ivy stays here year round. It’s weird, because it’s barren outside; winter. But when you step inside (which isn’t hard..you simply step through the wall) it looks like a summer day. Very odd & surreal feeling. Taken last week, standing in the basement looking up at the back door. More from the abandoned farmhouse series soon. :) And Happy New Year everyone!! / It’s 8:37 p.m. here. I get the feeling I’m the last sober one around here.(not for long…ha.) / / >featured< / sold: 2 mounted prints (RB artists) / / More from this series: / / Welcome Home / Tattered And Torn / Wild Horses / Watch Your Step / I Remember You / / /
Today was a really good day to be out in the Leicestershire countryside. Loads of dramatic skies, lots of sunshine and not too much wind. I just wish I’d had more time to spend. Days like these are a photographer’s joy.
I love going out to the Wisemans Ferry area, esp. on a crisp wintery morning. In this case the fog was very heavy and it took a long time to lift, hence the title “Good morning sunshine”. The Wood Family Farmhouse was built in 1866. Some time after the civil war the family lost all their investments and sold the home and farmland to the Harris family. The last occupant, Mrs. Harris passed away in the house in the late 1970’s, and the house has been left alone ever since. It was so windy today that many of the trees had been stripped bare of their leaves, before they even had a chance to show their bright autumn colors. It seemed like winter was loudly announcing its early arrival! The turbulent gray clouds were totally obscuring the sunset tonight and the lighting was very “flat”. At least the farmer’s fields were still displaying their beautiful fall colors as darkness of night was quickly approaching. The abandoned farmhouse proudly stands in the middle of the farmer’s field, weathering another season, as it has for over a century. Farmland in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, USA This photo was was shot using a Canon EOS 10D camera with a Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM zoom lens. The focal length was zoomed to 95mm. The shutter speed was 1/90th sec. at f/5.6. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used. This is an HDR image, comprised of three exposures, processed in PhotoMatrix Pro for Mac.
