  • A late evening summer storm approaching. Soon there would be more electrical elements in the air than just those high tension wires! • The corn grows tall and proud here in Lancaster County, PA (this particular photo was taken near Ephrata). After it’s cut (the timing of which depends on if it’s sweet corn or silage corn), it will change the landscape of our beautiful area once again. Oh, the changing of the seasons, from one to the next, and on to the next. What a wonderful thing! (In case you’re not used to what corn looks like at this stage, this is a slightly birds-eye view of the tops of the rows of stalks.)

  • Up close photo of a stalk of wheat before harvest. Andy Ferguson.

  • Featured in the group Bits and Pieces in August 2009 After the rat-race of the city, the farm now is a haven of peace and quiet. Funny, I thought it was boring once in my life! Amazing how perspective changes in life! / This was taken on the family farm, 40 kms southwest of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. / /

  • My grandson plays FarmTown and Farmville on the internet, and he loves plowing, planting, and harvesting his crops. When he came to visit me in the country, I told him I’d take him to a real farm where there is real plowing, planting, and harvesting. We pulled up to this watermelon patch where farmers were picking the fruit and we got permission to take their picture. We even bought a luscious melon that was sweet and juicy and ripe from the field, no artificial means of rushing the crop here, just Mother Nature’s slow and easy way of seeing the crop to full maturity. What a lovely day we had visiting the farmlands and meeting the farmers. I’d like to dedicate this photo to the hard working people who produce our food and keep life on Planet Earth thriving.

  • I had to get this picture… I thought he looked kind of funny with the sun making his ears appear as if they were glowing ha ha! I was glad there was a fence there though. I don’t think he would think it very funny if I was very close to him…. taken in Plain City, Utah July 2009 /

  • These old barn windows have seen a lot of seasons come and go, and a lot of years. Shortly after this photo was taken a white rooster took to crowing up a storm behind one of them. If these windows could speak…what sorts of stories would they tell?! Taken at Breakaway Farms, Manheim during a Keystone State (Pennsylvania) group shoot August 8th, 2009.

  • You can’t say you weren’t told! Don’t touch the fence!! :) On this particular day Farmer Nate had the electric fences turned off at Breakaway Farms near Manheim, PA. Over 20 people (all but two or three, photographers!) took over the farm for a couple of hours, taking pictures of everything imaginable (and some things that weren’t imaginable!). What a fun day with the Keystone State group and the West Shore Camera Club!
