  • Blueberry Background – the power of fruit

  • Bales of hay in the early morning mist.

  • Growing tired of the rising lumber costs my neighbor did what many farmers are doing and converted his barn to gold. This picture was taken at sunset as the barn is too bright to view during the daytime. My neighbor swears by the insulation properties of the gold and also feels that his barn is inflation proof.

  • Taken in 2004 in the beautiful farming community of Westcliffe, Colorado, at the foot of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountain range. This splendid restored old barn sat on a 160-acre ranch owned by our Georgia neighbors, the Irwins. Westcliffe sits adjacent to the historic mining town of Silver Cliff and both are at approximately 8000 feet in elevation. The sister towns are surrounded by more than one mountain range. To the west are the Sangre de Cristos at 14,000 feet in height. The Wet Mountains, Collegiate Mountains, and Spanish Peaks are respectively east, north, and south. You can’t beat the spectacular views! This is a winter view of the Irwin Barn. Please don’t copy or download this image. • I was searching for a historic covered bridge to photograph in august when I took a wrong turn in farm country. I saw this old shed and had to get a photo. I thought it was a small corn crib at first, but I was told that it could be a tobacco drying shed. Whatever it is, it looked very interesting to me. If anyone who knows the original purpose of this old structure, please let me know. I did eventually find the Buckhorn Cogan House covered bridge a few minutes later. Those pictures are displayed in my RedBubble portfolio. A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens was used. The lens was set to the 40mm focal length. The camera’s shutter speed was 1/180th sec at f/8. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. This photograph was taken “hand-held” and is “straight from the camera” with no processing or alterations.
