  • The rolling Barabool Hills are located on the outskirts of Geelong.I liked the look of this old cattle yard with it’s rustic timber fencing and lone tree, and used the foreground fencing for impact and depth to the shot.

  • A lone cottage in the middle of a huge deserted coastal region in rural ireland with a windswept landscape. There are also dramatic clouds in the sky over the atlantic ocean.

  • I have just bought a new computer and calibrated the monitor (my first time doing a callibration with Spyder2). So this is a bit of trial and error! All critique most appreciated. I have given this image some heavy sharpening and saturation to give the stone a rusted look. I think it does look like rust? / The image is from the corner of an old sandstone building in the Adelaide hills. / . / /

  • Old dilapidated barn at dusk.

  • This old wagon has seen better days but is a reminder of times gone by. The wagon was an important part of the early pioneer’s life. Just the time they saved hauling hay to the barn and corn to the corn crib made a big difference. This was added time for hunting and repairing the various things around the home. They could use it to carry goods to Maryville to sell or trade and bring back needed goods. More often than not the folks around the Smokies used sleds on wooden runners due to the amount of rocks they had to go over. This is located in the Cable Farm area of Cades Cove,GSMNP

  • Mabry Mill-a historic and often photographed old grist mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway near the town of Meadows of Dan, Virginia. Thanks to Ruth Lambert for researching and finding the information below: / “Mabry Mill is a watermill located at milepost 176.2 of Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd County, Virginia. It is a tourist attraction mainly for the picturesque views of the mill itself. A short trail around the mill connects historical exhibits about life in rural Virginia. The trail allows visitors to view the gristmill, sawmill, and blacksmith shop. / Mabry Mill was built by Edwin Boston Mabry (E.B. Mabry). E.B. Mabry returned to Floyd County in 1903 and began the construction of the mill. It was first a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, then became a sawmill. By 1905 it was in operation as a gristmill. By 1910 the front part of the mill was completed and included a lathe for turning out wheel hubs, a tongue and groove lathe, a planer and a jig-saw. Between 1905 and 1914 E.B. Mabry bought adjacent tracts of land, mostly for the purpose of acquiring more water power. 1 / During peak seasons, demonstrations of crafts are given by National Park Service volunteers at Mabry Mill.”
