These beautiful pear trees bloomed in our backyard every spring when we lived on the little farm near Monroe, Wisconsin. Rendered in pastels, they turned out to be a perfect subject! This painting was awarded a “State Exhibit Award” on February 16, 2008, in the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association Program, which means it is eligible for the state competition in Fall 2008. Of all my recent artwork, this is the one of which I am most proud!

This is an HDR shot that I took on my girlfriend’s property the other day.. / This old shed has always taken my interest as to how it may turn out as a subject for photography so I decided to get out of my car and take some snaps.. / I hope you all like it and once again all comments are welcome.. / Thankyou very much for looking! As soon as I came across this lone lamb, I was reminded of the old hymn by Ira Sankey, based on Matthew 18:13…. The Ninety and Nine. There were ninety and nine that safely lay / In the shelter of the fold. / But one was out on the hills away, / Far off from the gates of gold. / Away on the mountains wild and bare. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. “Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; / Are they not enough for Thee?” / But the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine / Has wandered away from Me; / And although the road be rough and steep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep.” But none of the ransomed ever knew / How deep were the waters crossed; / Nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through / Ere He found His sheep that was lost. / Out in the desert He heard its cry, / Sick and helpless and ready to die; / Sick and helpless and ready to die. “Lord, whence are those blood drops all the way / That mark out the mountain’s track?” / “They were shed for one who had gone astray / Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.” / “Lord, whence are Thy hands so rent and torn?” / “They are pierced tonight by many a thorn; / They are pierced tonight by many a thorn.” And all through the mountains, thunder riven / And up from the rocky steep, / There arose a glad cry to the gate of Heaven, / “Rejoice! I have found My sheep!” / And the angels echoed around the throne, / “Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own! / Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own!”

Featured in The Patchwork 5th Nov, 2008. / Featured in Live, Love, Dream 4th Nov, 2008. This road is opposite the entrance to Milton Abbey (school) in Milton Abbas. The autumn colours in the small group of trees caught my eye.

Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))

MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD / Best viewed large. / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / / / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. Moonrise on Melrose © Vicki Ferrari This photograph was taken on the Melrose Road, Albert (central New South Wales, Australia), in the 1980’s. This is a scan of the 8X12 print in one of my earlier portfolios – there has only been basic editing done in photoshop, to remove the inevitable dust and scratches that are prominent with negative use (which become really apparent once you have scanned the image!). Apart from that, what you see is what it is! This is one of my favourites. It was even used in a country music CD a few years ago! I was a bit impressed by that – chuffed almost! (yes, I was chuffed, not almost!) You can take pity on the person that was in the car with me, driving home at night and having to stop! I have to take a photo! (and how often do we do that?!)
