The grass so little has to do, / A sphere of simple green, / With only butterflies to brood, / And bees to entertain, And stir all day to pretty tunes / The breezes fetch along, / And hold the sunshine in its lap / And bow to everything; And thread the dews all night, like pearls, / And make itself so fine, / A duchess were too common / For such a noticing. / And even when it dies, to pass / In odors so divine, / As lowly spices gone to sleep, / Or amulets of pine. And then to dwell in sovereign barns, / And dream the days away, / The grass so little has to do, / I wish I were the hay! by Emily Dickinson / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / Bowen, Queensland

Saw this on Holy Island yesterday and the first thing I thought of was the song ‘Hey Man’ by Nelly Furtado…. / I was standing in the middle of the field imagining this wonderful hay man dancing around and singing at the top of his voice. Might have just been me….;-) Nelly Furtado – Hey Man

Location: Cave Spring, Georgia After a long day of hauling hay on our farm, my husband had already taken the other tractor to the barn. I lingered in the field a little longer in my tractor, camera ready and waiting for sunset. When the skies began to glow, I parked the tractor at the top and then ran down to the bottom of the hill to compose this shot. This image was featured in the Georgia group during the months of September & October 2008. Thank you for stopping by to comment on this image. Summer cone flowers by an old bushel basket.

The same barn as in my picture The Barn. This is my first attempt at HDR imagery! All we could actually see in the loft was the bright window and a little shaft of light on the nearby wood beams. It wasn’t until after I “developed” the long exposures that I was able to see the old hay and other details. I believe this was bracketed at 5 seconds, 15 seconds and 30 seconds.

Found these cute little cats in my son’s barn. I knew about them but just got to see them today. They are real little show offs. / I found this stack of hay then lured them to it. They did all the posing.

On a Sunday drive, near Avondale, Nova Scotia, we happened upon a man loading hay bales onto the trailer he was pulling with his tractor. It was a neat shot but I wanted something a bit different so I took this. Hope you like it!
