“Don’t be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.” / - Richard Bach -
Is she saying hello or saying goodbye? This gorgeous blue eyed beauty has a well-crafted paper aeroplane circling her. Whether it’s about to land or about to take-off is anyone’s guess. This piece reminds me of all those teary airport hellos and farewells of my 20s! ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... Sydney railway access tunnel. The parting, disconnection, abandonment between 2 human beings.
I’ve been to Eppley airfield in Omaha Nebraska several times. I never stopped to look closely at Carter lake which lies on the other side of the street to the terminal entrance. Today while bringing my Canadian friend to Omaha for his return flight to Ottawa, we decided to “drive through” and check out this small lake with the outline of the city as a backdrop before saying farewell. Walking over the small knoll in the parking lot, we were met by an enormous expanse of water lilies – of a kind I have never seen before in my life. Cameras and tripods were at the ready, and we spent quite a bit of time photographing the area before suddenly realizing that we had not checked the time for several minutes. The sudden awareness of a possible missed flight threw us into a frenzy of gathering up equipment and rushing across the street. Flushed from the heat and with the images from the previous hour forgotten, I waved goodbye to my friend as he jogged down the long hall toward his departure gate. Hours later, I opened my files on my camera to find these beautiful lilies and a bittersweet joy flooded my heart as I realized how precious are the times when time stands still. / /

What once had been his own absence was now the absence of the other. It had been the final evening, and to his dismay, the final farewell. Oil on canvas, 30×40 This is a portrait of a young lady that used to model for me in California, and this was from a photo taken on our first photoshoot near Three Rivers, CA. We had actually finished for the day and were headed home when I saw these “Farewell to Spring” flowers on the side of the road. They get their name because they always bloom in late May, just as the weather starts getting hot.

Sand dunes on Farewell Spit at the very top of New Zealands South Island.
As the moon beams fall softly into my garden, I bid it farewell, Frost is coming! All will be gone in the morning! But they are not dead, they are just “waiting”.... Waiting for Spring, when NEW life is born. We are waiting too, for our “new life” to become reality in the Spring! The Winter is cold, but warmth and beauty come in the Spring. / For our Aussie Friends, it’s just the other way around, but the same difference!! All of God’s creation is “waiting” to receive the NEW life that is promised. We are waiting Lord.
