I was playing around with a sunset photo I had taken, when I got the idea for a planet similar to Earth, populated with humanoid type creatures who find something to grumble about regardless of the situation. Their conversation might go something like: I can’t believe it Zhrikplatth, that’s the third time this Dasnuba that the skyhop has been late. Keep your veins in, Krryp, at least we can enjoy another methane sunset while we wait.

From a photograph of a real White Raven (aka “Spirit Raven” born in May 2008 on Vancouver Island with an identical sibling), this fantasy scene was born. “Keeper of Worlds” represents the powerful status of “Raven” in our various cultures and societies. He is a protector of home and worker of natural magic. If anyone was assigned to “manage” our Solar System, Raven would be up for the task, having proven himself in mythologies, stories and dreams. NB: Note the planet Earth in his beak. 25% from sales proceeds are donated to I.F.A.W. Subliminal though it may be, Desirée / Glanville speaks through her fantastic / fractal renderings and choice of music. / The Wiz – Ease on down the road, a / combination of fractals created with / Apophysis, is an example of her / music-inspired work. / A late seventies movie follow-up to a smash Broadway hit,The Wiz, / with its updated, urban Wizard of Oz theme, features characters / rising above their background and others’ expectations of them. / “Ease on Down the Road”, Desirée’s subtitle, is their road-trip theme song; sung by the late Michael / Jackson and Diana Ross, playing the scarecrow and Dorothy, respectively. The two joyfully make their / way down the yellow brick road, laughing, stumbling, and dancing, off to see “the Wiz” (the late Richard / Pryor). / Desirée strews our path with pink and yellow flowers and fantasy crystals, through which we see more / worlds. The landscape is draped in a muli-colored veil of dreams. Butterflies hover above, harbingers of / new life. / Dorothy, ultimately tells the Wiz, when he turns to her for help. ”…you’ll never find [what you’re looking / for] in the safety of this room. I tried that all my life. It doesn’t work. There’s a whole world out there. And / you’ll have to begin by letting people see who you really are.” / Is this Desirée’s message? As artists, getting out of that safe zone and letting others know who we really / are is probably where we begin to “ease on down the road”; the ultimate road trip to the pinnacle, where / the art of joy and the joy of art meet. Just playing around in PSP with a photo of my daughter Kassidy in a pensive mood, I couldn’t help but think how she looked old beyond her years, and she made me think of the Child Empress in The Neverending Story I and how she had the weight of the world on her shoulders. A little tweaking and playing with several different photos and this is the result! :) All resources used my own, taken on my Canon Powershot A480 point and shoot. A little help from the generous Trisste for a slight emphasis on the lashes. 500+ Viewings group: 516 views at the time of submission. I happened by a quiet area in the forest and heard the little hummingbirds chipping away at each other. As it turned out, they were really faeries. They were talking about the new palaces in the meadow that were “Oh, so chic!” Sheesh, I felt like I was on Rodeo Drive. I quietly followed them and this is what I found. I have to admit, I am quite humbled by this beautiful little area. Look at each tiny little mushroom castle and complex. I wonder what the cost is to buy one though. One sugar lump? A pot of honey? Pisces, mystical and magical, is the sign of rebirth, eternity and reincarnation. Pisceans are ruled by Neptune, the planet of mystery and this sense of the other-worldliness, can dominate their thinking. They are artistic and creative, and love to dream. They are empathic, kind and compassionate, but their need to swim in both directions at once can mean that the sometimes loose their way. Here, Leo, the Sea Lion, keeps the girls quite safe as they travel on their adventures. I first created several layers of different colours of blues and greens, blended these togetherl and applied gradients. I then overlaid these with the underwater rocks. The mermaids were morphed from the upper part of the girls bodies, with fish tails. Several layers were created for these, and blurred and overlaid to give the effect of movement. The sea lioness was morphed from a lioness’ head with a sea lion’s body and watery effects subsequently painted. The fish, the wreck and the mystical sea horses and sea dragon were added. For the bubbles, I created a bubble brush and applied using different opacities. The rays of sunlight light were added later and colour merged into the whole.
