This was fun, and I used a base infrared image that I shot in my own back garden, yes that wonderful tree is outside my window..;-) The swan and moon are from elsewhere in my wanderings, and what a nice composition they all made together…oooh I just love infrared!

...yes, this is my FIRST painting I ever did!!!! / Zombie came home & gave me a bag full of painting materials, long time ago… Brushes, canvases, acrylics, water containers things that I’ve never seen in my life!!!! So I took the one canvas and the brushes and I started to paint for the first time in my life. / Do you want to know how many hours I was painting this? 8 hours!!!!!! My neck was pain & the result was making me so pleased and happy – I wanted to paint more! / It’s still my favourite painting. It means everything to me and really owe it to Zombie. I finally got inspired to finish her. I made her a lot bigger than the others in the series, so that should appease her for me taking so long on her. / She is the Spirit of the North Wind. It is the wind of Winter and of death, but also of rebirth. She gives us the wisdom to overcome death and to know it is not the end. We must walk through the Northern gate at the end of this life and she will be the one to usher us through. Listen to cold Winter wind, and let her help you release your fears into the darkness of the night. Also from the Series

I used Jessica’s self portrait Ice Queen as a reference. / When I saw Jessica’s portrait I thought of the White Witch in Narnia. This is the third in a series I am creating dealing with the parallelism between the lunar phases/ women’s ages/ menstrual cycle / and the 4 seasons. / WINTER WITCH: a period of destruction and transformation, an “obscure” phase corresponding to the black moon, the menstrual phase, the “Witch”. / The symbol above her head is the triple lunar goddess symbol….maiden, mother, crone (waxing, full, waning moon) Symbolizing feminine energy and psychic abilities. / The Triquetra symbol is incorporated as well.
