This is my absolute favourite pair ever! My reproduction of an artwork called Lily’s Embrace done by Perselus on deviantart.com. After some weeks of devoloping this piece in my mind it finally just started to come together. As usual I went at the theme with something different in mind. What are we to say about how the divine eye sees our world or we may see the divine world in comparison to our own. This thought inspired a more surreal feel to the finished product. The complete and real title is : “Poupée – InnerSelf”. I asked to myself : Stars… They bright the sky, our eyes, our mind & soul. They are inside of us. We always look for them, for these glimpses of lights and happiness. / Do we really know ourselves? / Do we realize that we have all of this inside of us? / What are we in fact? / As we don’t really look in the correct place, we don’t really know ourselves i decided to ‘almost’ delete the face. This image grew organically from the “Chiefs wife”. I was thinking of the regal aloof nature of the African queen, which I had drawn earlier and then I thought of the scary twighlight world of the Sangoma, or witchdoctor, in juxtapostion to this calmer world. Sort of like the yin/yang, good and evil aspects that co-exist within each of us.

Dangerous Days was the original name of the screenplay and film, Blade Runner. An interpretation of the city view, especially with the opening sequence in mind. A Replicant looks on, knowing her time is short. Blade Runner is one of my favourite movies of all time, and the book is another favourite, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
