after a long day fishing and playing we sat here on the jetty at Kingfisher Bay to watch the sun set on a beautiful day…
To me, this photo symbolizes the beautiful journey of a father and son through life.. Silhouettes are my favorite thing to capture, there is so much emotion without even seeing facial expressions.
Here is a sunset capture with my two boys. They are very close and are not only brothers but best friends and love doing everything together :o)
Reworked photo previously removed. / Just increased the contrast to highlight the father and his 2 sons and the beautiful sunset on the Glenmore Reservoir. / I’ve always liked this shot and felt it deserved a better fate than its last showing.

Here I have captured my hubby watching the children while they play in the water during a sunset.
A family of four playing on a bridge in the evening. Friendship Trail Bridge, Tampa Bay Florida. This is a very difficult shot to pull off due to shooting straight into the sun. The key here was to keep the sun in front of the main subject which reduces flair. Under exposed by 1.5 stops. 1/200th second. This image was the product of dozens of trips to the Friendship Trail Bridge over several years. The bridge is now off limits due to safety issues and is in the process of trying to be saved by a group in the Tampa Bay area.
On July 4 of 2008 some friends and family were gathered around a bonfire in our yard, shooting fireworks and sharing stories. It was also my 39th birthday (groan). As everyone was engaged in watching which fireworks the kids would send up next, I was watching the sun set in the west. I started to think about the last year of my life and of so many birthdays before and how the day was ending so joyously… so celebratory. I walked away from the festivities for a few moments into a freshly mowed alfalfa field and watched as this burning pink and orange sun slowly slid to the horizon and I thought to myself that of all the “grand finale’s” at every fireworks show across the USA that night, that this “finale” was the grandest of them all.

And yes, here I’m also in the water after him with the camera! / It’s similar to ‘My sunset’ but I wanted to share this one also :o) Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens / processed in RAW with only the contrast and colour slightly upped, the rest is all real! No photoshop as I have already been asked.
This was done a while ago , I didn’t like it and put it away, I found it today – and quite liked it. There you go.

The sunset colours, / the setting of the sun indicating an end to the unfathomable 2009 fires of black Saturday. The tall trees with limbs represent the entire families taken, / the saplings the young lives cut short. The child represents our hope, / the single leaf the renewable nature of our botany. The single yellow ribbon, / those millions who gave from their hearts in everyway they could. To this child the leaf is salvation and from where she stands it is all she can see. Is family really the most important thing we have? / Isn’t the very feeling and safety to know there’s “someone there”? / What really defines a family, more than sharing dna? Many questions can be asked / answerd here but atleast one thing is for sure, everybody gets a better well beeing from feeling loved. Care for your close ones and bring the ones far away from you closer.
