  • A fond look back at summer. This shot was take in Portland, Oregon during one of my trike rides last summer.

  • Here’s a nice accident! It was to be a photo of my hubby but decided to make it all about me for once!! Ohh… And this is probably as close as we get to having a photo taken together these days!

  • This male Eastern bluebird is helping the female build a nest with straw. The outcome is always a marvel, a perfectly formed little teacup-shaped nest that is usually topped off with a tiny feather before egg-laying begins, one a day for five days. Then comes incubation time, hatching, tending the nestlings, and finally giving the babies freedom when they fledge. Here in southern Louisiana, the scenario is repeated three times with as many as 15 new baby bluebirds coming into the world in a pair’s spring/summer mating season. I never tire of watching the drama. This beautiful little male is making his home in my mother’s yard where there are doves, finches, titmice, chickadees, cardinals, sparrows, red-wing blackbirds, and Lord knows what else! They love it there!

  • Fallen leaves on a sunset beach.

  • The quote is attributed to Plutarch who attributed it to….you get the idea.

  • This picture made by 1930 model of Voigtlander 6×9 Folding Camera. / I took this picture in June 1974 at a dog show in Vitebsk (republic of Belarus in former USSR). It was a very cold summer day no more that 10 degrees. The sitting lady in white jacket was the owner of the dog in the the picture. I was amazed at their resemblance and took the photo. Everybody’s attention is on another dog right behind the front one. This obscure dog misbehavior had attracted attention of onlookers.

  • I spent the afternoon at Brighton Beach, Adelaide, taking some photos. This was taken from the Jetty looking south. Nikon D200 – 18-200mm / 1/200th @ f/5.6 / ISO 100 / Polarizing Filter

  • On the morning of November 1st this dock at the boat launch is peaceful and calm. November inevitably brings the long period of wind, rain, snow flurries and eventually a white winter blanket that covers the land. But today the sun shines despite the cold and all is tranquil. / I cannot help but hear the children’s laughter, the dogs barking, and the splash of water all around, people carrying on conversations while launching or mooring their boats and tying them to the dock. The summer sun is high in an azure sky and only soft puffy clouds float by. Armed with picnic baskets and coolers, families and friends come to the boat launch area with high expectations of fun and frolic for the day whether taking a tour of the lake or intent on some serious fishing. Now the area is quiet. It seems as if the town workers have yet to come and remove the dock to take it to its winter storage. The sun is lower in the sky; the colors have changed from vivid and vibrant green and blue to the more sombre tones of November. And yet memories of summer linger on… Taken on Saturday morning November 1st at the public boat launch for the town of Deux-Montagnes, Quebec CANADA overlooking the Lake of Two Mountains. Converted to sepia in camera. /

  • Christmas beetles (Anoplognathus) belong to the Scarab family and include flower chafers, cock chafers, and fiddle beetles. This one was spending his summer holidays at Cosy Corner, (near St Helens, Tasmania), on a Melaleuca bush. I liked the contrast between the mauve and green. Velvia scan.

  • Here’s my oldest boy paddling out just like me to watch the sunset after a very hot summer’s day. And yes, here I’m also in the water after him with the camera! / It’s similar to ‘My sunset’ but I wanted to share this one also :o) Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens / processed in RAW with only the contrast and colour slightly upped, the rest is all real! No photoshop as I have already been asked.

  • / / “Beach Picnic” is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured digitally, I hope you like this image with mother and daughter in similar sundresses. As a child we enjoyed beach picnics all the time, mum would make us special fried chicken (better than Kentucky Fried) and we would go out on the boat to a little island, where i would play with soldier crabs for hours on end, while dad fished and mum sunbaked… they were wonderful times. We also went on the annual Beach Picnic to Bonny Hills with the church and we were great friends with the priest back in those days who was a top water skier.. We would see so many things at Bonny Hills, sea snakes slithered past in the creek where we were swimming and there were amazing white clay deposits in the sand….hours of fun were had by all… not to mention we even had a little mass there… top fun :)

  • This time of year, when it is still warm, but the Autumn season, we call it “Indian Summer”. This is a red sun flower, facing a huge bush of yellow Coreopsis flowers, all in my yard. But Nov. is not far away and then we will see frost, and more rain and fog. Cold nights will set in, and there will be a fire in the wood stove on some nights. Thinking about family then, and Thanksgiving. Thanking God for His providing us with all of our needs. He never fails. / /
