  • Fire and water don’t usually mix, but in this case they seem to flow wonderfully together. Caney Fork River at the Rock Island State Park, Tennessee. (P.S. This is not a sunset photo. The color in the reflection is from the autumn leaves. It’s a little blurry because the water was moving).

  • Believe it or not, this is not a “fantasy” image, created in a computer. This is a real photograph of a very real place! This is Rainbow Falls, in Watkins Glen State Park, located in upstate New York at the lower end of Seneca Lake. It is one of the most unbelievable places I have ever seen! I thank God and NY State for this most beautiful place on earth! Lush green ground vegetation and beautiful trees punctuate the enormous rock cliffs and the numerous waterfalls. The sound of flowing water is like natures music that accompanies you throughout your hike in the gorge. This photograph was captured with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 10D DSLR body. The aperture was f/4, shutter speed 1/15th sec at 40mm focal length. The camera & Lens were mounted on a Manfrotto tripod with a Manfrotto “joystick” ball head. A remote shutter release was used to minimize movement. No flash. Your comments are always welcome! Camera: Canon 5D / Lens: Canon 24-70mm L / Filter: Heliopan thin circular polarizer

  • Water quenches thirst. Experiencing nature’s pure beauty refreshes the core inner being… the soul! The first signs of autumn are just beginning to peek through here. The air is becoming cooler every day and the subtle scent of fall is getting more evident in the woods. The park rangers do their very best to keep this great place as pure and unspoiled as possible, and so should we! One simple rule: If you carry anything into the woods, be sure you also carry it back out with you! Leave the forests and streams EXACTLY as you found them! Ricketts Glen is a Pennsylvania State Park, located in the north eastern region of the Keystone State. The nearest community to the park is Red Rock, situated at the junction state routes RT-118 and RT-487. A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens was used. The lens was set to its widest focal length of 17mm. The camera’s shutter speed was 2 seconds at f/11. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome!
