  • Oh how I wish I could see such a sight! I live in the desert and it rarely snows here. Each year, as an act of longing I often draw a snowy winter scene. Merry Christmas! :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: / Materials- watercolor, graphite / © Shannon Luedke

  • “Wallaces Hut – Victorian High Country” Not far from Falls Creek is Wallace’s Hut – the oldest remaining cattlemen’s hut in the Victorian high country. Built in 1889 the hut is in fact celebrating 120 years this year. / It had been used by stockmen while moving cattle up to the high plains for grazing and then down again before the Winter snows. Autumn is a magical time to visit the high country and during our recent visit we managed to get to Wallace’s Hut. Due to recent snow falls we had to carefully pick our way up the walking track through a few patches of snow. On arrival we found the hut surrounded by beautiful twisting snow gums, colourful bark and sprinklings of snow. Very picturesque. Depending on conditions (ie outside of Winter or heavy snows), the hut can be reached by road a few kms from Falls Creek and then on foot (less than 1 km) from the Bogong High Plains Rd. • Throughout the spring, high in the Rocky Mountains, you can find turbulent streams most everywhere you look and like this one, they all run at white water speeds. The larger streams produce a deafing roar and dangerous consequences for those who venture close too the edge of banks weakened from violent currents. With the help of warmer temperatures’ and spring rains the snow pack melts, quickly filling every small and large valley or depression with ice cold waters. These waters run swiftly towards thirsty populations’, nestled in the footprint of these great mountains. / ________ Nikon D40 with 18-55mm GII lens / 55mm ~ 1/30’s ~ f / 5.6 – ISO=1250 / Tripod / ________ / ________ / ________

  • My sweet and lovely old girl. As closely as we can guess, Brandy is at or near thirty but don’t tell her that;)

  • The picturesque Muncy Valley area, in north central Pennsylvania, is home to hundreds of family owned “working” farms. Much of that precious farmland is owned and operated by hard-working people of the Amish faith. From just the right spot, high up on a hilltop, the productive fields seem to stretch all the way to the edge of the earth. One of the best vantage points of all is located outside of the small village of Clarkstown, Pennsylvania. At the junction of two old dirt roads, where Ridge Road meets Bartlow Road, there is a view that is so amazing that it draws me back again and again. The photographs displayed in the pages of this calendar were all shot from the same location, one from each month of the year. This is a photographic record of the seasonal changes at The Forgotten Farmhouse. You are looking at a very old house, situated in the middle of a very productive farmer’s field. The house is totally cut off from any access to the nearest roads. The building and its surrounding trees just stand there, like an isolated island. A person might start to envision all of the people who had known this humble farmhouse as their family’s home for all those years. This dilapidated structure has obviously stood on this very spot for more than a hundred years. I wondered why it had never been torn down to make more plowable space for growing crops. There must be a lot of very rich history behind this extremely mysterious place. This beautiful location has been a personal obsession, since October of 2007. Presented here is a collection of images that were photographed over the last fifteen months.
