Well I am back home from my photoshoot yesterday up in Rocky Mountain National Park and I am one very hurting unit…damn I am sore as hell! My feet and knees are wanting to divorce me and my back, well it seems to have gotten up and left lol The colors up there were really odd, a lot of areas still green, some past prime and are brown, and some in prime. The lack of wildlife in the park was rather unexpected. Saw only one herd of Elk, way far out of my lens’ reach. Luckily, I took daskibum ’s advice and went in on Hwy 7, which lead me on a chase on some backroad for golden Aspen. And along the road I happened to discover a whole other area of Rocky Mountain National Park which I have never even heard of, by the name of “Wild Basin Trailhead”..and some of my best shots came from this area, as the light was beyond perfect! Never mind the fact, this place is pretty secluded and no one was around. From there I traveled into Estes Park and was greeted by one of the biggest Bull Elk I have ever seen. Harem and all, not that it’s an odd site during Rut season, but him staring at my car, bugling, and looking like he was going to charge me while I hung out my window, was. He was gigantic. There were also 2 other bulls, one with a harem and one alone….the one alone made a brilliant model…he was younger and smaller, however still quite large….and let me shoot away as I pleased, not even minding me. After photographing him I yelled to him as he looked up at me “Thanks dude for modeling me for me! I appreciate it! Be careful of those other males, they’re pretty mean!” lol I have never seen so many other professional photographers in my life as I did in the park. Had a couple follow me around, one getting out to shot with me with his Hasselblad H2 (omg drool fest!) saying “I hope you don’t mind me kind of following you around, you seem like you know the spots”, to which I replied, “Nope, as long as you let me see that and hold that damn camera!” He was from Vancouver, CA, and before i knew it I had this beast in my hands….damn…what a camera….maybe someday when I win the lottery I can afford a $39,000 Medium Format dslr….a lotta people, a lotta random convos with other photographers, and I have a helluva lotta shots….400 some odd RAW files to go through. Sooooo on that note, stay tuned! And I hope you all are out shooting and enjoying the colors! Unless you’re down under, go surfing or…something lol / —-—-—-—-—-——- Now on some with some other news :) Well it turns out that yours truely has been accepted to Alamy Stock Agency and needless to say I am frickin thrilled to death! I already sell on some micro stock sites, but honestly I have never put up my best shots on them, I always wanted those for myself, and I really didn’t want them to go for Royalty Free. Well, being I was just accepted to one of the best and largest Rights Managed agencies, now I can upload my best shots…..this is gonna rock and is quite an accomplishment for me. A big step, as they are VERY hard to get on with! But I did it! YAY go me!!!!!

You’ve no doubt noticed Group News no longer goes out as bubblemail – it appears instead in the right hand ‘feed’ area of the Activity Monitor and disappears again all within minutes so news is being missed!!! It gets directed over to the appropriate Forum area of each Group BUT of course not many people go searching Forums for info … SO … PLEASE, if you are interested in having an opportunity to hang your Rusty Crusty work for FREE in the Tap Gallery in November (here in Sydney) go to this link and see what’s afoot … it is very exciting! Steve McLaren is offering 2 places at his “I’m Rusted, I’m Crusted, I’m Falling to Bitz” exhibition … more details at the link. And today’s bit of excitement for me has been finding my image Toward the Lilypond receiving a Photo of the Day award at Shutterbugs.biz in the “Theme: Magic Light” category. Fagan Park does it again (with the help of some mist!)

The weekend finally, arrived and I was able to concentrate on some self-portrait work. I wanted to incorporate something additional that would add a unique, perspective so, I choose to work with a mirror. The biggest, challenge during the shoot was the correct alignment of my, body and hat, in relationship to the camera. I kept catching glimpses or to much of me which would block the entire reflection. The piece included additional elements of red objects, lighting and props for the red challenge in Ohio Photographers group. It was a fun, adventure to incorporate new, elements within the shoot. I do recommend giving it a try or thinking in a new, way. Oh, and I am happy to say I did not spill any wine during the shoot either. Red, Red, Wine I would like to extend a credit to my friend, Judith for the inspiration on the mirror, used in Red, Red Wine because of her amazing work with reflections. Saturday, I have managed to return from the photography session with the beautiful, old tree The back, of the trunk, held a magical, patten like something right out of Georgia O’Keeffe paintings. Tree Goddess I managed to wander off and discover some other new, interesting trees and managed the amazing, talent of falling out of one of them during this shoot. I am starting to see the need of a photographer’s assistant or on site nurse! The rest of the photographs from the shoot I have debated over and am still not happy with the interaction between me, props and the tree. So, this nature setting is harder then I anticipated. All & All I recommend trying new, perspectives when shooting, changing locations, shoot outdoors if you shoot indoors a lot, work with new, models, address new situations you typically would not. Challenge yourself.

Yay, first journal here :) Firstly my thanks to all those of you who have favorited or commented on my photos, it is always a joy to receive some reaction and feedback, even more so when it is so positive. Then the season, this autumn was one of the most beautiful falls I had the joy to experience in the last couple of years – the light was often fantastic and the colors of the trees were intense and stayed that way for a long time. Even now that November comes with bad(der) weather it is still a fascinating mood, and once I have shaken off my little bout with the stomach flu I’ll be back out shooting – and hopefully thinking of preparing some of my best results for posting and sharing here. I already have a huge back-log and the many opportunities I saw this year haven’t let it shrink to a smaller size :D + And now something cool to watch and listen too And more And even more
